Kirsten Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Ever seen THIS at an airshow or in action from the QRA pad ??? THIS IS IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Capun, Wrench, Kesselbrut, Russo and Geo, one of the greatest additions EVER !! Aju, Derk V for Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I wholeheartedly agree with Derk. Saw one, mouth agape, do a low-level flyby when I was stationed in the UK in the 80's. This A-Team rendition is phenomenal! Very well done, thanks muchly gentlemen. Quote
BattlerBritain Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 This is a superb add-on. It looks right, flies right (perhaps even a little too sedate?) and the cockpit is just great Having seen the Vulcan at Air Displays in the UK I can confirm that the Vulcan produced an ear-splitting roar louder than anything I've ever heard. In fact the Vulcan used the same engines as in Concorde, only Concorde had afterburner, and you know how loud Concorde was! Hence I might swop the sound to that of the Lighning add-on to get that rumble-in-the-stomach feeling. Cheers to the guys that made this - you made this Dood real happy Battler Quote
Kirsten Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 There is even more to this "aluminium overcast" as it was sometimes called: take her up to 60000 (!) ft and try her out: rock stable and controllable (with even some buffeting when cornering) at an indicated airspeed of about 165 kts at 100% power......... Those were altitudes a B52 could never reach, let alone use operationally and a lot of Cold War fighters were unable at that speed and altitude to manoeuvre into a firing position. Maybe the roll rate could use a bit of reduction, but for the rest this is truly a wonderfull flying machine with an equally wonderfull FM !!!!!!!!!!!!! Vulcan for Aju, Derk Quote
whirlinmerlin Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Just installed it and had a quicky! Nice. I have a mate who used to flick the switches in the 'back' of Vulcans and Victors, I'll have to show him it. Quote
+BUFF Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 There is even more to this "aluminium overcast" as it was sometimes called: take her up to 60000 (!) ft and try her out: rock stable and controllable (with even some buffeting when cornering) at an indicated airspeed of about 165 kts at 100% power......... Those were altitudes a B52 could never reach, let alone use operationally and a lot of Cold War fighters were unable at that speed and altitude to manoeuvre into a firing position. Due to it's huge wing area the Vulcan could out manouevre many fighters at altitude & that of course was if they could even get up there. Unfortunately reliable AAMs took away that advantage. The Victor was probably even more capable - as I remember it could go higher & faster (a Victor has been supersonic) than the Vulcan. & yes, the Vulcan had an unique moan/howl from it's engines. I'm very much looking forward to seeing XH558 back in the skies again http://www.tvoc.co.uk/ Quote

BattlerBritain Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 XH558 finally flies.... Sky News report: http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1288877,00.html BBC News report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicest...ire/7049694.stm The best bit is there's a guy called Tombstone over on the PPRUNE forums who famously said: "I will walk around every into each Sqn crewroom at Marham, naked with a rose between my arse cheeks, singing a song of your choice if the Vulcan ever flies again. " Anyone know of a florists ? Cheers, Battler Quote
BattlerBritain Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 BBC Vid here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/leicester/content/art...o_feature.shtml But make sure you have the sound turned up REAL LOUD :) Quote

Kirsten Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Was it a very suitable moment to bring out the Vulcan, now that XH558 is flying again or is it the other way around....... Great thing that there is one in the air again, can't wait to see it in action !!!!!! Aju, Derk Quote
+comrpnt Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Hi folks, yes, great to see 558 in the skies again. I saw it in pieces during it's final reassembly in July at Brunty. Very impressive even then. Nice new paint-job too. Anyone interested in me posting the updated version of my Black Buck WOV mission that uses the Vulcan? (Pictures here http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...897&fpart=6 **Scroll Down**) It's all done and dusted and on the shelf but I haven't got around to posting it yet. Let me know. Regards, P.T. (comrpnt) Quote
BattlerBritain Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 "Anyone interested?" he asks? Is the Pope a Catholic? Do Bears $hit in the woods? I think there's one or two people here who'd love a copy. Post it up and let's give it a test run Cheers, Battler Quote
