feldwebel 0 Posted December 24, 2007 I was wondering what is currently, and what is projected to be the worlds best fighter jet? I have heard the f-22 raptor and some seem to think a new Sekoia. Opinions? Reasons?

feldwebel 0 Posted December 24, 2007 'Best fighter' is a subjective and ever changing target, and can depend on many factors. No question about that, there is no best, main;y because there are many factors; however, I am looking for input... Anybody care to put their 2 cents in? JediMaster 451 Posted December 26, 2007 The F-22 simply because no one else is willing to spend that much on R&D and production for one. The only thing the F-22 can't do is be cheap.
MigBuster 2,884 Posted December 27, 2007 Everything points (not least the Red Flag engagements) that the F-22 will wipe the skies of any current adversary with minimal loss . Maybe in 10 years or so something better may come into service - but only if the funding is there.

MigBuster 2,884 Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) The F-22 does all that and best of all wins each category too :) Edited December 27, 2007 by CoolHand29
column5 63 Posted December 27, 2007 The best fighter in what??? Turn fights, BVR or sitting on the runway and cost as much as possible Winning. Of course we won't know until we do Iran, but all the indicators are that the F-22 will achieve and maintain air dominance immediately. Even the US Navy is banking on this with their decision not to deploy any true fighter aircraft on their carriers.
