i90807065 0 Posted April 11, 2008 3 PEOPLE GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO EACH PERSON PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM. A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE ROOM WITH $5. ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 PEOPLE, SO HE GAVE EACH PERSON A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF. THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 PEOPLE EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29. WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR? Could someone help me with this? +suhsjake 11 Posted April 11, 2008 My math teacher told me his, and for the life of me, I can't remember what happened to the other dollar.
PIGHUNTA69 0 Posted April 11, 2008 They paid $25, Each person got $1 each = 25+3= $28 + $2 the bellboy kept for himself = $30.
PIGHUNTA69 0 Posted April 11, 2008 They never paid $9 each they paid about $8.33. $25 divided by 3.
FastCargo 412 Posted April 11, 2008 The math is wrong. Lets start with the total - 30 dollars = 3 x 10 dollars per. Now, the new total - 25 dollars = 3 x 8.3333333... dollars per. (Difference of 1.666666 per person) Add 1 dollar for each person - 28 dollars = 3 x 9.3333333... dollars per. (Difference of .6666666 per person) Add 2 dollars (which is .666666666 x 3) for bellboy - 30 dollars = Original total. FastCargo

Fubar512 1,350 Posted April 16, 2008 People don't Hate DOING taxes......they hate PAYING Taxes Add insurance to that. I've got a friend who's an OBGYN. He was literally forced to scale back his practice and give up his O/R privileges, as the malpractice insurance premiums were killing him. He recently admitted that he netted 250K last year, 130 of which was eaten up by his (reduced) insurance premium and income taxes. The latter amounted to almost 80K. JediMaster 451 Posted April 22, 2008 Malpractice insurance, driven by the malpractice lawyers, is what has made healthcase unaffordable in the US. Every person and place needs it, from nurses to clinics to doctors and hospitals, and because the lawsuits are always so big they pay mega $$ for the insurance. I remember a DECADE ago my father telling me his hospital paid $1000/bed/DAY for malpractice insurance ALONE. That's $365k/year per bed just for that facility. You know, 100 years ago if someone died or was screwed up in the hospital it wasn't a license to print money for that person or their next of kin or their slimy lawyer (who always takes half--if they're lucky).
