Does anyone have any info regarding the 80th F-14A destined for Iran. All I know is that it was used for "testing". Anyone know what this testing was? Or better yet, does anyone have any links regarding this bird. And is there a chance there are some pictures? I wanted to do a skin of this Tomcat for TMF's F-14A(iiaf).

It never left the USA. Basically it got repossessed before they got it.

From MATS

BuNos 160299 to 160378 (F-14A-90/1995-GR) were built for Iran with the last one (BuNo 160378) remaining in the US after the islamic revolution in Iran. This particular aircraft was put into storage at Davis-Monthan AFB until it was refurbished and used at the PMTC at Point Mugu, CA.

Left at AMARC till 1986 before a refurb to US Navy Standard apparently - thats a long time to leave it sitting there :(

Amazing to think that the F-14A could have racked up 159 confirmed Air to Air kills with Iran - now thats a Turkey shoot!

Probably testing of new weapons and the like. They can't really take it out for a spin in the public, don't they?
