Footage or not?

Recommended Posts

Yes definately real but hard to do properly. Lots of PS workflow to get them looking right-on.

I've seen these before on the A.net site and there are many others like them.

There's a good one of an Astraeus 752 in front of a low reddish moon somewhere, had it on the old desktop for a while.

Tried it myself with very poor results I can tell you.

The important thing to remember about composing shots like that is the light source.

Look at the moon, figure out where the sun has to be. Now look at the shadows on the plane/contrails and figure out where the sun has to be. If it's not pretty close, you can tell it's a fake.

They're 'shopped. Look at the contrails....totally wrong illumination. Look at the sky ... possibly late twilight/early evening; wrong sun angle on the moon/aircraft

on the 2nd one, looking at the moon angle, more of the underside of the 747 would be illuminated.

When I've seen real aircraft fly across the face of the real Moon, it's usually in siloute, as the 'moon glow' would washout the aircraft, and the contrails usually appear as shadows.

They ARE pretty, nonetheless!

I've taken pictures like this, a long time ago. Wish I could them....they were sooooo blurry!!!! :haha:

I've got a similar lens for moon-gazing

The problem with it is that the Moon moves too fast and I don't have a proper mount. Sitting in pitch dark on the balcony, aiming the beast, pressing the button, setting 20 secs timer for the mount to go still after I touched it...

Still some shots were neat
