+pcpilot Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Sakai, Its very heart warming to hear a young person like you remember you Grandfather as you do. You honor and respect him. His memory will never die as long as you hold it close. My sincerest condolences with your familys' loss. God bless. RIP Willard Simmons.
+DWCAce Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I'm sorry for your loss. Mom's dad passed away this past January. He was a fellow navy type from WWII, though he had it a bit easier as he was stationed in Dunkeswell England. He was a parachute rigger (and sometimes made local non-combat jumps.... i guess that the ultimate form of QC...) for the Navy Liberator units flying ASW patrols. Like your grandfather, he was a great man (always likened him to John Wayne). Anyways, sorry to steal your thunder..... S!
+ST0RM Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I too am sorry to hear of your Grandfathers passing. May he enjoy a new life in Heaven. Jeff
Sakai Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Again, I can't thank you all enough. It truly warms my heart to hear from all of you, proving that there is still some good left in this world, lol, thank you! <S>
Viggen Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 My condolences to you and your family Sakai.

It's kind of funny, but when I was younger I was absolutely star struk by the IAF (and still am) and I would talk to him at great lengths about all that I had learned of your war for independence, the six day way, and the Yom Kippur War (spelling?) I'm sure he is touched by your words as he watches over, and I thank you for him. Happy Holidays Mannie, thank you!
+JediMaster Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Odd coincidence. I also lost my father's father at Xmas time, albeit in 1980. I was only 7 so I don't remember him too well.
