Sakai, Its very heart warming to hear a young person like you remember you Grandfather as you do. You honor and respect him. His memory will never die as long as you hold it close. My sincerest condolences with your familys' loss. God bless. RIP Willard Simmons. :salute:

I'm sorry for your loss. Mom's dad passed away this past January. He was a fellow navy type from WWII, though he had it a bit easier as he was stationed in Dunkeswell England. He was a parachute rigger (and sometimes made local non-combat jumps.... i guess that the ultimate form of QC...) for the Navy Liberator units flying ASW patrols. Like your grandfather, he was a great man (always likened him to John Wayne).

Anyways, sorry to steal your thunder.....

S!

Thank you very much Mannie. It's kind of funny, but when I was younger I was absolutely star struk by the IAF (and still am) and I would talk to him at great lengths about all that I had learned of your war for independence, the six day way, and the Yom Kippur War (spelling?) I'm sure he is touched by your words as he watches over, and I thank you for him. Happy Holidays Mannie, thank you!

Odd coincidence. I also lost my father's father at Xmas time, albeit in 1980. I was only 7 so I don't remember him too well.
