I should have said how beautifully this sim has been crafted by our artisan devs, AND how beautifully the add-on Gothas have been crafted by Seacondor and Winters. As to your request: From where would you like to start and what objective do you wish to fly to; what time of year and hour of day do you wish to begin; which Albatros model do you want to fly; and which Allied planes would you like to have intercept your flight? My wishlist (if possible) My craft: Albatros D.II (or any other Albatros) Escorted craft: Gothas (or other big ones) Enemy interceptor: your decision Mission target: a target, that would be of such importance, that they'd send the big ones plus escort Mission distance: not further than it would make sense for Albatros escorts, including combat time So there are many free variables for you to make it fun, I hope? Olham 164 Posted September 11, 2010 Jasta 1, Bertincourt, 22. August 1916 Uffz. Mahlo Patrolling east of Arras, we sighted several FE2b and BE2 two-seaters. We engaged, and soon I had hit one FE2 pusher hard; it caught fire and fell to earth at 09:03 h. I followed them SW with Fw. Ehms, and I could shoot down a BE2 very easily, cause it did not have any rearward defense. Nothing heroic really, but it had carried bombs, which now did not hit any of our ground troops. Olham 164 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) Jasta 1, Bertincourt, 23. August 1916 Uffz. Mahlo Yesterday afternoon, we painted the replacement Halberstadt Burgundy red - it looks wonderful! I took it out for an escort of three Roland "Walfisch" today. Over the lines we got under attack by four or five Sopwith scouts. They had an advantage of height, but they must have been crazy to attack ten of us. We made short washing up with them, without any losses. Olham, your reports and acompanying shots are always a joy to read/see. And your 'Burgundy Baron' looks very fine. Don't recall seeing that colour scheme anywhere before. What can you do, when you are still climbing to patrol over Varsenaere near the north sea coast, and then you spot three clouds of SPAD VII, to the left, to the right, and in front of you?!?!? About 16 - 18 British SPAD - lots of aces among them - came down on us like armageddon! My engine was shot up and stopped, before I could even hit anyone. Trying to land the shot up craft, this Tommy still hasn't enough - he keeps firing at me! I just managed to crash-land my Albatros and survived. Olham 164 Posted September 12, 2010 Yes, we don't need to be "Full DiD" puristic about that, as long as we don't fly "Krauts vs Crumpets". I find it always interesting to know whom I'm up against. It's easier for an Entente pilot to identify Jasta after their colours, but as a German pilot, I would miss a lot. So, what the heck - I use them every now and then! E.IIIs mainly-- they don't fly terribly well usually, though are quite deadly when they line up a shot because of their gun placement and heavy ammunition supply. And then comes this mad Roland C.II, which must be the German version of a Brisfit, and shoots my kite to oblivion in a second! This craft is fragile as a butterfly! If you were to darken the natural lumber a bit and hunt down the matching fonts for the tail number and "C" it would be a dead ringer for the illustration you've posted. Whatever - well done. You even did the same as I just have done with my little Nieuport: making new wooden struts. Olham 164 Posted September 18, 2010 He was so young - but well, he died like Boelcke... This Jasta 10 pilot had only just absolved his third sortie - a balloon defense near the Argonne forrest. They had all returned without enemy contact. But strangely, one Albatros D.II was quite a bit behind the others as if he had engine problems. When they flew over the last waypoint, they just entered a thick white cloud, but he could recognise the others turned away for their landing approach. So he banked his craft hard right, still in thick white haze, to make a steep side slip - and chrashed into the rearmost flyer, which he had forgotten. Both pilots fell out of the cloud without any controll about their wreckages. Seems the Albatros D.II was not made for a monoplane test. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
nbryant 8 Posted September 18, 2010 Thanks Olham. Already have begun. My SPAD XIII has various exhasut overlays, data plates, redone access panels to provide variation in the airframe.
