Hey i just have a quick question to the .ini tweakers:

It is possible to change the sound of the weapons so they wouldn't be the same in the game; i.e. the guns of a MIG 15/17 would have two diffrent sounds one for the 37 cannon and anothe for the 23mm, and moreover a different sound for the crusader, and so on...

what would be the .ini file to touch?

The gundata.ini in the main objects folder would be where to go, would be fairly easy to do, just a matter of picking different sounds and typing in the new name.

You can...if you look in gundata.ini

see this

you will see its sound ...GunFireSound=50cal

you can either copy the gun...and copy the ini entry...and create a new sound and add the new name..via the gun editor..

easy

[GunData001]

TypeName=30CAL_M2

FullName=0.30-cal M2 Machinegun

Caliber=7.620000

ROF=1200.000000

MuzzleVel=835.000000

AmmoWt=0.009730

WarheadWt=0.000000

Reliability=97.000000

Accuracy=70.000000

AddLight=FALSE

MaxLightRange=1000.000000

FireColor=0.150000,0.150000,0.150000

GunFireEffect=LmgFireEffect

GunFireSound=50cal

EffectClassName=LmgEffects

EffectTime=0.100000

TracerTexture=Tracer.tga

TracerSize=0.150000

TracerDistFactor=0.002000

TracerLength=0.015000

MaxVisibleDist=4000.000000

MaxStreakVisibleDist=1000.000000

TimeFuzed=FALSE

btw...you can do all the above with the gun editor...apart from making the new .wav file but thats easy too..

Did you save your edits using the Gun Editor? Is there both a Gundata.ini and a Gundata.dat in your objects folder? Are your sounds encoded in 11025-44100 Hz Mono (stereo sounds are incompatible with this series)?

i guess (don´t really know), the thing is, if i change the name, let´s say Cannon.wav to GSH23, put the new file on the sounds folder and change using either gun data editor, or manually with the notepad, my gun doesn´t sound at all, so, i don´t know......

Did you add the new name to this line in the gun enrtry

GunFireSound=GSH23

close\save the Gundata.ini .and then in Gun editor...open gundaata.ini...click edit the gun...then close \save the guneditor?

Don't repack it. Just edit the gundata.ini while it's in place (in your objects folder), save the changes with the guneditor, and make sure that you have both a gundata.ini and a gundata.dat in your objects folder It's easy.

And remember that this game use only 2 .wav format.

PCM 11,025KHz 8bit Mono 10KB/s and PCM 22,050KHz 8bit Mono 21KB/s

Not really...I have plenty of 44100 kHz 16-bit wav files in all my installs that work quite well.

I was just wondering if the game engine doesn't recognize the sound names, or my sound card could have issues because since the last post i was trying to change the sounds and if i use the word Cannon, i can hear the desired sound, but if i change it for NR-30, i cannot hear anything, so what do you guys think?
