ordway Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 View File Mig-23ML Fighter Cockpit (Version 1.3) (TMF) Mig-23ML cockpit (Version 1.1) made by Richard "Pitts2A" Ordway, Starfighter2, lindr2. For SFP1 series. For Mirage Factory Mig-23ML. You need avionics 70 and the latest patch updates from Thirdwire. Tested on Windows XP and not Vista. However it might work on Vista too. This is the Mig-23ML cockpit in a Russian dark green color (from color photos of a Mig-23ML-look at the color photo in the folder) and modded to the Mig-23ML standard from Armourdave and Sal's Mig-23 grey-colored cockpit. Full instructions in the enclosed read me, along with historicl notes, credits, and so forth Enjoy! Submitter ordway Submitted 05/06/2009 Category Jet Cockpits
76.IAP-Blackbird Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Great work on this, are you planing making more mig-23 pits??
gerwin Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) Nice one, thank you all! Two questions; -The mirage factory MiG-23ML data ini seems to be from 2005, are there any updates to this datafile since then? -Can I use a thirdwire graphical model to properly represent the MiG-23ML airframe. like the 'Big-nose-cone' MiG-23M and MF models? Or to rephrase; are there externally visible differences between the MiG-23ML, M and MF? Thanks in advance Edited May 7, 2009 by gerwin
ordway Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) Great work on this, are you planing making more mig-23 pits?? Yes. If I can get Starfighter2 to make a HUD for the early Mig-23 which most likely had a radar scope on it then we will be in business. I know Starfighter 2 talked to me about it. ordway Posted May 7, 2009 Author Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) On which variants of the '23 can it be used? Hi, if you want it loosely, it can be used on all variants. However, more historically, it can only be used on mid to late Mig-23s. Early variants apparently (please someone correct me with photos, hard evidence, etc. if I am wrong), had a radar scope on the instrument panel. The early variants with the radar scope in general according to one source seem to be: 'MiG-23S' ("'Flogger-A'"). 'MiG-23SM' 'MiG-23MF' ("'Flogger-B'"). 'MiG-23MP'("'Flogger-E'"). 'MiG-23M' 'MiG-23MS'("'Very first Flogger-G's"). 'MiG-23P' http://tripatlas.com/Mikoyan-Gurevich_MiG-23 I am currently working on an early cockpit if Starfighter2, Lindr2 will make the HUD. Directions to add this cockpit to other floggers: 1) Just change the name of the three files to your new flogger: MiG-23ML_cockpit.ini MiG-23ML.ini MiG-23ML.ini Example. Let's say you are going to use a Mig-23MS. So rename MiG-23ML_cockpit.ini to Mig-23MS_cockpit.ini. Do the same to the other two files, put the new cockpit in and you are done. Or to rephrase; are there externally visible differences between the MiG-23ML, M and MF? Thanks in advance Well, first I would not be too hasty to change the data file. The Mirage factory is well known for doing a good job. I am happy with the Mig-23 datafile and I flew a Mig-17 in aerobatics at the old Jeffco airport in Colorado, but to each their own...and there could of course be better newer data files out there. However, Gephard made a Mig-23MK and posted in at combatace to modern experimental aircraft section. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6655 You could try that. Secondly, I know that Starfighter2 is working on a new datafile. You could ask him for it. Thirdly, I believe that there are newer Mig23s with newer data files posted in the cold war Russian fighters section at Combatace. For whether Thirdwire's graphical models are good for all models, I have not checked into that. That is a good question. Maybe someone else can answer better than me. I figure that for me it is not so important because in air-air combat, a Flogger is pretty distinctive at dogfight distances almost no matter what single-seat model it is...but that's me. Now the cockpit however...you live with that right in front of you for your whole flight. Edited May 7, 2009 by ordway

Thanks ordway, Concerning the external models, I found that the M/MF and ML do have some small differences, like the tail root (source; squadron signal publications); Link to image

ordway Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Ordway, check out this webite! http://backfiretu-22m.tripod.com/index.html Thanks. there's lots of good info there.
lindr2 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 NOTE: this pack is INCOMPATIBLE with my MiG-23ML (ver.dec. 2009) http://combatace.com/files/file/10353-mig-23ml/ BECAUSE USE: ANOTHER plane LOD, ANOTHER data.ini, ANOTHER avionics.ini, ANOTHER loadout.ini for THAT version you can replace Cockpit folder & Cockpit.ini ONLY
