The Mig-21M (modernizeerovannyy) was the export version of the Mig-21S (Sapfeer-21 radar), the first fighter of the third generation Mig-21s.

Both NATO nickname was Fishbed-J, the engine was the Soyuz R11F2S-300.

It differed from the domestic version in two important respects: the downgraded (simplified) avionics and the built-in GSh-23L gun.

The Mig-21MF (modernizeerovannyy forseerovannyy), the export version of the Mig-21SM (S-modernizeerovannyy), all named Fishbed-J too, had the more powerfull engine Soyuz R13-300, the rear view periscope and two blast deflectors below the blow-in doors.

The Mig-21M was exported in East Germany (87), Poland (36), Czechoslovakia (24), Romania (60), Yugoslavia (25), Bulgaria (15), Syria (12), Egypt (12) and India.

The IAF had 65 Soviet-built Mig-21M (izdeliye 96) were called in India Mig-21MF, but the Indian-built Type-88 (izdeliye 96F) , very similar to soviet Mig-21MF, was called Mig-21M , that caused some misunderstandings …..

There was’nt in TW/TK simulations.

So I started from the Mig-21MF and removed the periscope and the blast deflectors, changed the engine stats (data taken from previous Mig-21S mod), made some other editings (performances and weapons) took some stock MF skins (Soviet, Syrian and Eaf), made new ones and historical known serial numbers.

I was not able to remove periscope from inside the cockpit, if someone could , do it please for me.

Because some Mig-21M were “retrofitted” with periscope and blast plates, I'll include in the pack a dedicated retrofitted data.ini. You have only to change it with the stock one.

In this way the plane is identical in shape to later Mig-21MF.

Take a preview look, please

... and more

The new skins included:

1) LSK Silver & Camo with historical serial numbers (made on Souli’s original work as usual) and “Q” quality marks on appropriate planes;

2) PWL Silver with historical serial numbers;

3) Yugo Silver with historical serial numbers;

4) IAF Silver & Camo with known historical serial numbers (I'm looking for all IAF serials ..... if You have something, please help).

5) CVL Silver with historical serial numbers;

Romania decals and silver skin is the next job.

My friends and me had Mig-21MA and Mig-21R as WIPs. But they are grounded for this time.

Czechoslovak MA (removed periscope, cannon deflectors too)

MA-1.jpg

MA is M version just with added "A". Later updated to MF standard (both versions were WIPs)

Mig-21R without cannon and deflectors...

R7.jpg

Old projects, but no progress as I said. Our MA was planned as Czechoslovak MA, so no colision with your M I think.

Good luck :yes:

Migs forever :biggrin:

Migs forever, too.

I only made some decals for a generic silver CVL skin, that should be a placeholder waiting your Czech dedicated mod.

Thanks.

Hi Kukulino

May I ask you which parts (other than listed) were removed from original LOD? Just interesting.

MiG-21bis Jagdgeschwader 8 (JG-8) "Hermann Matern" Marxwalde airfield, serial number 75035407. Delivered in July 1976, served till 1990, was taken over by Bundeswehr, new tactical number 24+49, then phased out and, so the rumours, given to Croatia to fight the serbs.

One comment, the double missile rail was used only for R-60 missiles, not for the heavier R-3S or R-13M. Model still need the plates below the anti-pompage air intakes.

great paulo, but one tip for high-rez skins.

it looks better to paint the insignias direct on the bitmaps...

paulopanz (!)

Beautiful skin looks (!).

And what model was used (?!).

Apparently, the model derived from the MiG-21bis of SF2E ...

If someone wants to use them, I made the 800l and the 490l droptanks for the 21 (by Soulfreaks request) - but they might need a better skin (Paint.NET template included)...

The model I used is the stock SF-2 Mig-21MF (modded to Mig-21M).

I have some LSK Insignas in the decal sheet You send ... but I don't like very much panting them on the planes.

(Numbers never at all ...)

In fact, I think that our sim' decals system is the best.

I'll try it.

paulo, if you paint the decals on the bitmaps, you avoid the bleeding of the decals, they will be weathered, the panellines show on the dacals wich all make it look more realistic. thats the reasons why i paint em on the *.bmps...

It was only a suggestion / tip... ;-)

To make the things a little bit more difficult: Each single MiG-21 of the LSK (east german air force) had had a unique camo sceme. There were no two birds who had the exactly same look. :smile:
