I'd agree that language is the great barrier to more European pilots joining us.

 

I don't know what focus English language lessons have in their respective countries. If my French and German (largely forgotten now, expecially the grammar) are anything to go by, then they would probably be able to ask where the nearest hotel was, but not discuss 90 year old aero-engines.

 

Any steps to bring an even more international crowd together in pursuit of a common interest can only be a good thing.

Noticed during my traveling that only in South of Europe (France/Spain/South Italy, not north Italy/Greek Islands) people have a English language problem, in north and central Europe it is no issue, to me it appears, all hat some lessons at school.
