I see I've now the label of 'CA Die Hard' beneath my avatar. When did these come in?

Not sure mine's appropriate, I find it disconcertingly easy to die in this sim! 'CA Die Repeatedly' is more like it.

I was about to start a thread of my own on this. I had always wonder about the rankings under our avatars. At the outset, I was struck by Olhams's "Elite Member" (in bright yellow/gold) and wondered 'How many did he have to shoot down to get that?'. Then as mine started to change for no discernable reason, I figured, 'It's a time-in-grade thing. Just like the real war: stay alive long enough and promotions will just happen. (Do these Dev's know their "Immersion", or what?) But 'CA Superstar'? C'mon! Fight it as I may, it forces a blush to these old, frost-bit, wind-burned cheeks.

it has nothing to do with your number of victories, it's based on the Frequency of your Posts. And or your time of membership

Being a QC flyer, I knew there could be no way to link advancement to one's performance. That could only happen in the former Peoples Socialist Paradise where pilots are forced to fly on-line and results are tallied daily on Dzerzhinsky Street.

... it's based on the Frequency of your Posts.

Yup that's all it is. There are member tags (ranks) for members who have post counts up into the 15,000 range. You OFF'ers blew away the curve on posting and I had to raise the mark a tad bit.

Member groups aka the badges that show you as "new, junior, valued, senior, elite" have not changed and those will increment as normal.

So to paraphrase - Ranks (based on post count) give you the title (tag) below your name. Groups (also based on post count) give you additional features, access, rights, and storage.

>> Edit <<

Tags aka ranks are gone for the time being, they are too confusing.

That's it from the fray .... good luck!

Hi Erik, thanks for the clarification

On another unamed forum we were allowed to post a short personal message below our avatar

Any chance of that happening here?

Some seem to have figured out how to do that already

That would have to be done by hand since this software doesn't allow personalized edits by the community members. I checked into that before actually making a mess out of the ranking system yesterday. So in a short answer, yes it's doable, but I'd have to do it and my time right now probably better spent with the remaining issues from the conversion. However, I may throw in a couple freebie changes for a little participation. Keep a watch on the boards. :)

Damn, now I missed that - would have liked to know how they had rated me?

That's air combat for you. Blink, and it's over. In my case, I knew I really wasn't a 'CA Superstar', but I was hoping to grow into it.
