I don't know if the belgian Tintin Comic books are much known outside the french-speaking world (especially in the US), but here's the following:

Hergé, Tintin's creator, always drew very carefully the buildings, planes, vehicules and so on in his comics. He also made a few strips dealing with WW2 airplanes wich are quite good.

We call him "Kuifje" after his hairstile. They are wondefull cartoonalbums with great characters like captain Haddock and many more and indeed very nice and accurate drawings !!

Oh yes, I loved them as a kid (and they are still good)!

BTW, it's called "Tim und Struppi" in Germany...
