Slartibartfast 153 Posted November 17, 2009 Sounds like a bad day at the office... ho hum new pilot time... In my week of owning it I have lost a pilot every other day one survived a grand total of 2 minutes...
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted November 17, 2009 . rd1, you actually FOUND the bombers you were meant to escort on your first mission?! Good for you, lady. BTW, dead or not, new pilot buys the drinks. Cheers! Lou .
HotNess 2 Posted November 17, 2009 , new pilot buys the drinks. well,I would buy the drinks all round..but as i was flying for germany,i obviously put the black leather on,now i had the shoes, but just did not have a purse to match that outfit..and even in war, theres no need to look uncoordinated in fashion..so cant buy drinks till a matching purse id found lol xx v xx
Baldric 42 Posted November 17, 2009 Well done, and welcome to a ton of fun! My main campaign pilot lived through a nightmare today, so he'll buy a round
Olham 164 Posted November 17, 2009 RD1, do you fly full DiD already? I mean, without Labels on, and without TAC screen? If so, you did really well for a first flight, and you could keep it that hard way, cause you will learn the real feel flight much better "without those crutches". You have a map to look at in flight, and in there are the routes and waypoints, and even a little yellow aeroplane sign moving along the line - or not (when you're off the course). The tough reality freaks use only that map, no "radar". Welcome in our ranks again, pilot! Or must I say "pilotesse"? Not sure... Anyway: my boys and I wouldn't mind getting a photograph of you in your black leather flying outfit!
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted November 17, 2009 . Oh come now Olham, obviously rd1 is a "Fraulein Flieger". .
HotNess 2 Posted November 17, 2009 i wonderd what DiD meant lol..yes no labels or Tac screen..and id be more than happy to pose for photos as a Fraulein Flieger..minus the hat thing n goggles though...the price my hairdresser charges,i aint messing this up lol. I must say,i totally enjoyed it..i wasnt expecting to as i said in another thread im normally a thirdwire,Free falcon 5.3,Lock on online flyer, im also not a patient person so expected to think its way to slow getting somewhere, but you actually have constantly fly the thing and it was hell of alot of fun x xx v xx
Sakai 2 Posted November 17, 2009 lol, great story, wish I had OFF. Have been playing alot of Red Baron 3D with the Hells Angels patch. Ya know, for being a 199X game, with the update to the graphics, it's really not all that bad. On full real (no icons, just map and padlock) I've managed to rack up a tally of 17 german aircraft downed while flying for No. 8 squadron, RNAS!
Olham 164 Posted November 17, 2009 When I came to OFF, I came from faster aircraft, too. IL2, the powerful prop fighters of WW2. But here, I really got into fighting with the aircraft as a whole, rudder means a lot here, and you always need to care about the energy not getting lost. Acceleration isn't just pushing the jet throttle forward and start the afterburner - here you have to find out about the strengths and the weaknesses of each craft. No rockets to lock on a target - a whole craft must get manoeuvered so, that you can fire your gun(s) at your opponent. In other words - no rocketing, but REAL flying. And you, Sakai, should just go to www.overflandersfields.com and find how to order it. You liked Red Baron? Some of the OFF devs have come from there! You can't do a thing wrong! (And I don't get percentage to say this!)

There ia a group od us that fly BHAH online. We would be happy to have you I'm sure. You can find more info in the multiplayer section in the OFF forums. OvS 8 Posted November 18, 2009 lol, great story, wish I had OFF. Have been playing alot of Red Baron 3D with the Hells Angels patch. On full real (no icons, just map and padlock) I've managed to rack up a tally of 17 german aircraft downed while flying for No. 8 squadron, RNAS! Dude... I made Hell's Angels... and I have to say... OFF is like RB3D on serious steroids... in fact, now it's like 70's Arnie compared to Melvin from Revenge of the Nerds... If your PC can handle OFF, which it should be able to... get it without delay. OvS
Bullethead 12 Posted November 18, 2009 found bombers, hit bombers mid air killed myself and 2 of them...the end LOL Did you happen to get a screenshot of that? Sounds like a very cool wreck. I'm quite impressed with your talents. Usually, it takes newbies 5 or 6 sorties to do something that spectacular. I'd say you're a natural
Canvas Wings 1 Posted November 18, 2009 Geez! I think that was you screaming past my nose in the cloud about ten yards out. Scared the crap outta me! LOL! Welcome the war. ...now the trick is to collide with *enemy* aircraft. CW
Olham 164 Posted November 18, 2009 OvS: ... in fact, now it's like 70's Arnie compared to Melvin from Revenge of the Nerds... Naw! Arnie was just impressive, and maybe a good looking Terminator (just terminates California successfully - Lol!). OFF combines real beauty and immense depth / profoundness, and incredible immersive campaigns. (But who the hell is Melvin?)

OFF combines real beauty and immense depth / profoundness, and incredible immersive campaigns. (But who the hell is Melvin?) Here this might help.... Our beloved RB3D with missing LGM's, rushed and poor out of the box 3Dfx ported graphics, 1998 technology running it and a killer campaign manager.... vs... well.... an ever more increasing Manager, tons of details and immersion factors, history to keep even the most detailed of historians happy... and all wrapped up in an environment that keeps you at the edge of your seat... Olham 164 Posted November 18, 2009 Okay, I see - well, I'm still much more impressed by OFF than by "Arnie". But good, that he loves it.

Olham 164 Posted November 18, 2009 Hey, Nessy - you changed your name! Just when I had added you to the OFF Pilots Maps - as racindriver1. Okay, I'll change it again. But please don't change it again. Cause now, we can call you "Nessy", which is much better than racindriver1.
77Scout 3 Posted November 18, 2009 You have a map to look at in flight...The tough reality freaks use only that map, no "radar". Actually, the reality freaks use paper maps...the in-game map is too easy . Or so I have heard (grin).
Olham 164 Posted November 18, 2009 Yeah, okay, there's always someone tougher than you. I mean, for her, as she just started flying OFF, the in-game map as the only guide is difficult enough.
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted November 19, 2009 . I agree Olham. Learning to fly with an external historic map in OFF takes a bit of practice and a lot of patience. I do it now with a fair to good success rate and really enjoy the added immersion it offers, but it was a tough row to hoe for a while. Oh and Ness, I like the new moniker there lassie. Cheers! Lou .
