Toxic NVIDIA drivers 196.75

Recommended Posts

I got this at SimHQ website:

I figured this was a good place to put it so everyone would see it.

Hi All -

Just got this from ZDNet tech site:

WARNING! NVIDIA 196.75 drivers can kill your graphics card.

They will slow down or shut off your graphics card cooling fan.

Hope no one has a problem, but better safe than sorry.

If you recently updated drivers for NVIDIA, check it out.

Apparently,NVIDIA has pulled them to fix them.

I went to NVIDIA's site and they have WARNING also!

Apparently the driver causes a malfunction on the automatic FanSpeed control on some VGA', apparently causing it to come to a complete stop in some cases , that makes it to overheat and stop working.

Long ago I stopped upgrading my drivers the minute they were released because of horror stories like this one. I tend to stick with the last gen drivers.

SF2:I has been CTD'ing lately and so I dug this thread back up to check the version. I'm running 196.21, so it must just be a hickup.
