You gotta be kidding!

When i played little league baseball my team only won a single game during one season. Sorry, but it wasn't the end of the world for us kids back then.

Ridiculous! Back in the 60s it was common to have 6-0, 8-0 and even 12-0 results in the top soccer leagues all around Europe and no-one died as a result. Bruised egos? Definitely. But have we not discovered in the course of our lives that mistakes and personal defeats have taught us more than continuous success? This attempt to control the outcome of soccer matches is an affront to the spirit of sports competitions ("May the best man/woman/team win" anyone?) and seems to send a twisted message that simultaneously tells the losing kids that someone will always have their backs while telling the winning ones that they should refrain from doing their best. Well, those kids should learn only one simple lesson: "There's always someone better than you". This suits them all as it teaches them that no-one wins forever, so instead of getting cocky they should learn humility (a sore loser is bad enough, a sore winner is insufferable) and that losing isn't the end of the world but rather an opportunity to analize what went wrong and to improve oneself.

I do apologize if I don't make much sense but I seem to have had too much to drink after lunch!

Have a great day, everyone!

This is a great rule. What's the big deal... why it took so long to come up with this is a joke. All kids should know what it's like to win, as well as loose. This way, we can raise our children like socialist pigs and they can sit on their asses, do nothing and demand everything be handed to them from the Government as if they are entitled to it. And when it runs out, they can complain to each other that it was our fault for not teaching them how to have the drive and sheer hunger to be successful in life. The 'everyone gets a lollipop' theory strikes again.

Way to go Socialism... corrupting the youth of today... where's my hammer and sickle shirt?

OvS

PS... this is by no means a shot at Canadians... you guys are FAR from this line of thinking... this type of socialism is on a whole new level.

Actually, under old-school socialism here there was a lot of competition starting with schools and ending with factories. And, boy, could one fail even without a compo. The "everyone gets a sucker" is some new BS.

I thought the world couldn't go much dumber. Obviously, I was wrong.

This stupidity and socialism (or any political philosophy) have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Unless you make the analogy to the business and globalization concept of the "race to the bottom" Oh there'll be competitive spirit still, but with the new rules they'll be competing to throw the game so they win on this technicality.

It's overprotective parents coddling whiney kids. If you suck at a sport, find a different one you're good at, or a whole different activity! Hell I sucked ass at nearly all sports, but if the local school system allowed it, I could have skipped several grades and was a great artist.

Me I can´t play soccer as I am allergic to Hair Spray... I played Rugby as a kid and an adult and we got beaten as much as we won and to me a Victory after being beaten 4 games running is so much sweeter... And as has been said if you can´t do a sport to the point of being useless at it maybe its time to take another one up or

Be a Shining Example on how not to play a sport... bit like me and Basketball...

No one should lose for winning...

To become stronger you have to taste defeat... as defeat makes you work harder to win...

If i never lost as a child, I would have missed out on the sheer delight of throwing the Monopoly board, and all the contents across the room

Whoever made this rule deserves to be hit at least 5 times (that will make them the winners, so I don't think they'll complain) with a heavy club. With a little luck, that could set their brain cells in working condition again (or perhaps for the first time, who knows).

When i was a kid, i was a rather bad loser.

I HATED to lose!

I would shake the other teams' hands and all but i was volcanically fuming inside. Couldn't say much anyway because we got beaten fair and square.

What i hated even worse was to be embarrassed by someone flaunting their superiority. If i ever encountered someone doing something similar to what is demanded by the "New Rules" i would do my utter best to find a way to physically maul them. Couldn't care less about rules, penalties, the coach, being thrown out the game, etc. It was a matter of saving face.

I guarantee you that sooner or later, some kid on a losing side is going to snap from the humiliation and just unload on an opponent.

I wasn't aloud to lose growing up. It just wasn't accepted., You lose, you dealt with dad. I got messed with a lot growing up, right until they threw a punch. Then the skinny guy proceeded to whip your ass. If I ever threw a punch first in anger though my dad would whip my ass. So losing to me meant dealing with my dad. So I didnt lose. You dont have to be the best ball player, or the biggest dude to win, you have to have the attitude. If you have that, then you wont. But today you cant be like that or they brand you as "off". Well my kids have that winning attitude........losing, not an option......
