+76.IAP-Blackbird 3,557 Posted July 11, 2010 I have since yesterday nearly 50 slim coloured lines on my monitor, it even shows a wrong picture when my Comp is booting. We had here over 40C and maybe this nice warm weather caused the death of my Nvidia chip?! Or am I wrong?! Windows shows Code 10 for my Card and all runs in a resolution I haven`T seen since 1995
+Gepard 11,315 Posted July 11, 2010 Vielleicht ist nur der Lüfter verdreckt. Ich habe an meinen letztens den Staubsauger drangehalten und seitdem geht es wieder.
+76.IAP-Blackbird 3,557 Posted July 11, 2010 (edited) Did you have also the nice not so funny coloured lines? Nope the fan is running, all others too, seems the card died yesterday ... Edited July 11, 2010 by 76.IAP-Blackbird
+gerwin 451 Posted July 11, 2010 Did you have also the nice not so funny coloured lines? Nope the fan is running, all others too, seems the card died yesterday ... Very common problem. Usually caused by overheating. You might be able to give the card new life by heating up the main chip with a small smokeless torch/lighter. Sounds silly But it worked for me on a geforce Go7600 a few weeks ago.

+76.IAP-Blackbird 3,557 Posted July 11, 2010 OK now I`m confused! You say clean it from dust should solve the prob?! But Windows tells me the card is not running and not possible! Will see what I can do with it, but a good friend will send me GTX 260 hope it will work, that only my Geforce broke down and nothing else!
Burning Beard 14 Posted July 11, 2010 The cards do get hot if there is dust on them or in the fins/fan area. I have GTX260 and that is a good card and it runs pretty cool. It should run up to 80 C safely but mine usually runs at 64 or under in OFF. That is room I am in is normally about 28.5 C in the summer. Beard
