The Original Hollywood Squares

Recommended Posts

If you remember the original Hollywood Squares and its comics, this will bring a tear to your eyes. These great questions and answers are from the days when "Hollywood Squares" game show responses were spontaneous and clever, not (as) scripted and (often) dull as they are now. Peter Marshall was the host asking the questions, of course.

A. Paul Lynde: If you hold their little heads under water long enough.

A. Rose Marie: You ask me one more growing old question Peter, and I'll give you a gesture you'll never forget.

Q. Paul, why do Hell's Angels wear leather?

A. Because chiffon wrinkles too easily.

I remember the original Hollwood Squares very well.

Paul Lynde was one the funniest comedians of all time. He could say anything and make it funny, simply from the way he spoke.

The man was a genius of comedy.

I remember watching Hollywood Squares with my grandfather. It seems that you could get away with more on T.V. back then. The other show that would push the edge of good taste was Match Game.

When I see those two shows I have good memories growing up and can still see my grandfather in his chair enjoying life.
