New Oeffag D.III 3D model based on stock Albatros D.III.

Only that my little experiment with Hexa- editor:

I prepare Oeffag D.III Ba.53 and Oeffag D.III Ba.153 (without prop spinner) also.

I mentioned that to ***** over at Skunkworks (the D.III rudder as apposed to the D.V rounded rudder). I dont think he really wanted to mess with the mapping at all.

Hey Jan....If only you started this a few months ago!

I did sooo many skins for the skunkworks D.IIIOef. I like your idea better. If you can make a decent Oef model from the stock D.III, maybe I'll consider redoing my skins for the Battle of Caporetto campaign.

I'm going to add more to it anyway.

-Please Quack, if you make new skins, try to make the skins names shorter. I'm playing the Caporetto mod in FE Gold and some skins doesn't work unless you change the skins name. Very good mod anyway.

-Jan, good idea! The Oeffag is much better this way. 253 Series had the 225hp engine and external guns!. 153 Series had the 200hp and 53 Series had 185hp. The rounded nose without spinner were in 253 and latter 153 series. 53 series had the spinner.

Now, if someone will make an Aviatik DI, Phonix DI or a proper Hansa-Brandenburg DI...

I guess I'm going to have a lot of re-skinning to do:blink: . Good stuff Jan Tuma! I definitly would rather have this D.III too. Glad you decided to do it.

Awsome! Need that engine cover to keep out that Alpine cold. I would have wanted that cover over my cockpit!

Nice work Jan.

Excellent!

Are you building these from scratch or modding those already in the stable?

What editor did you say you were using?

Excellent!

Are you building these from scratch or modding those already in the stable?

What editor did you say you were using?

I use for editing: Mikes.de Tiny Hexer (hexa code editor), and

like browser: 3D object converter by Zoltán Karpáti (for *.lod unfortunately only viwer)

Changes are effected directly in stock AlbatrosD3.LOD (scrolling points, delete and addition polygons etc.).

This method has its limits, but her results are good beyond expectation. Alone am surprise at, how all it is possible change. Is that a however heavy work with Hexa-editor (B23F 256A --->3B3F 256A etc. ). I am began with this one method already in former times in EAW, earlier than was available 3D-editor (my EAW models- WW1: http://www.sandbagger.uk.com/ww1skins1.html and WW2: http://www.tuma.tenzor.cz/index_hr.html )

if he is editing these I wonder how difficult/imposible it would be to mod the DIII into a DII?

I will try that!

A D.II would be very possible using this method. Not too different looking than a D.III Struts and wing height differ a bit.

But lets let Jan finish this D.IIIOef. I too will have a lot of work to do when it's done. Pretty exciting

Is this similiar to the hide or remove component trick, via data ini edits, we've been using in the other 3W sims?

Also, components can be added using FastCargo's fake pilot trick (dialing in the location of new component is the hard part!)

This work is really amazing, especially given the limitations of the tools.

Now we can rework and improve older models. The diversity of models in the stable is a real strength of FE.

Now we have a path to improvements of good work to better.

Bravo!!
