+Olham Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I see you know your movies, Lou! And of course I picked this one - here in Europe, it may well be the best known and most liked American movie still. Quote
Von Paulus Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Another apropos quote you could use in this instance from the iconic Rick Blaine would be, "If you don't get in that plane you'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life." Eheheh! You're a true romantic, Lou. Quote
Herr Prop-Wasche Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Welcome to the community, Elephant! It may have been mentioned before, but don't forget to get TrackIR, too, so you can track enemy movements with your head like a real pilot, instead of with a joystick hat-switch. I would also be remiss if I did not mention the growing availability of mods, such as Creaghorn's soundtweak and tracers mod. There are also some other good mods out there to add to your experience. Also, don't be shy about asking questions: we are a generally very helpful bunch. Just watch out for the mysterious UncleAl character. His advice often comes with a sting! We all love him anyway! +elephant Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) Wow, guys...I feel allready home! I'm also a big cinema fan, Olham and Lou. Herr Prop-Wasche, don't be so modest! I have already downloaded your DM mod, (v. 2.2 is cumulative isn't it?)...and Creaghorn's soundtweak and tracers mod, even if I haven't got the actual game in my hands yet. Gool luck with the FM tweak mod... I heard you have corrected the FM of my beloved Albatros first... Thanks again! Edited November 18, 2010 by elephant Quote
Guest British_eh Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 (edited) Hi there elephant, Welcome to Over Flanders Fields. RAF_L has it spot on, and what a line ( Ricks) to immortalize OFF by! So, you've got all the info. With your past experience it should be a cakewalk to survive maybe 5 or 6 hours :) See the : Sticky : OFF General Help Topics & HITR Known issues Uncleal has some great help topics in there, as well as the going to : http://www.overflandersfields.com/ Once you are good to go take a look at the Geneal Discussion topic : : Sticky :Survival In the Air Series - OFF- Pilot primers and Workshop Settings Some very useful info on working with OFF settings and aircraft There are Pilot Primers for flying a number of the aircraft offered in OFF, all contributed by skilled OFF Pilots. When you've got all of that sorted out, then you can peruse the Survival In the Air - Realistic Survival Settings, which present a Standard by which you may wish to fly by. The actual Workshop Settings have been vigorously researched for accuracy, and are provided as an alternate to DiD, another Standard, and found in the Sticky section too. Cheers, British_eh Edited November 18, 2010 by British_eh Quote

Slartibartfast Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Also, don't be shy about asking questions: we are a generally very helpful bunch. Just watch out for the mysterious UncleAl character. His advice often comes with a sting! We all love him anyway! I have said it before and will happily say it again every forum should have an UncleAl... at least then you know when you are being truly stupid... And you chaps with the Casablanca thing going on... Of all the Simulations in all the world we fly this one... Quote
+RAF_Louvert Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 . Lou: "Play it Slarti, you know what I want to hear." Slarti: "No, I don't." Lou: "You played it for her, you can play it for me!" Slarti: "Well, I don't think I can remember..." Lou: "If she can stand it, I can! Play it!" You must remember this, A bis is just a bis, A tri is just a tri. The fundamental things apply, When OFF you fly. And when sorties ensue Up in the lofty blue, For victory we vie. No matter what the campaign brings, It’s OFF we fly. Cordite and castor, never out of date. Making adjustments to get the best climb rate. Man needs his plane to journey to his fate On that you can rely. It’s still the same old story A fight for fame and glory A case of do or die This world will always have brave pilots, As OFF we fly. (...hee, hee, hee... I crack myself up.) . Quote

+Olham Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Lou - you must have one of the best women in the world, when she lets you get away with spending so much time on our favourite subject. So thank you for just being what you are - and to your wife for letting you do all that! Quote
+RAF_Louvert Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 . She is a wonder Olham, I just wonder what she sees in me. As for me being what I am, I'm quite good at that. Better than I am at being anything else really. . Quote
Herr Prop-Wasche Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Outstanding, Lou! You are a poet and a gentleman. Quote
+elephant Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 I said, above that I feel already home... I have to add that I also feel privileged to be here! Cheers! Quote

+Olham Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 (edited) Well, at least there is a song by the "Dandy Warhols" called "Minnesota", if you want to rock. Edit: not quite right - it is called "Minnesoter"; here it is: Edited November 20, 2010 by Olham Quote
Von Paulus Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Minnesota reminds me Timberwolves. How are the Timberwolves this season? Quote
