That was a black day in the history of the British Army. But I personally would like to point out that said army, including a few friends of mine, generally did a sterling job in keeping the "peace" against enormous provocation and terrorist atrocities over the years. Sorry if this ruffles anyone's feathers but more than 1,000 members of the security forces were killed in the Troubles.

I was in Londonderry, at the U.S. Navy CommSta., in the late 60s, early 70s, and I remember these scenes all to well.
