tiopilotos Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I have a problem with the MF A-7H on SF2. Markings of air force are not dispalyed. Any help? Thanks
FrankD Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Hello tiopilotos, please verify that in Decals.ini, the DecalLevel and DecalMaxLOD parameters are correct. For the stock "InsignaR/L", I have 0 and 4, respectively, while for the stock "FinFlashR/L", I have 0 and 3, respectively again.
tiopilotos Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 Well, I don't know which numbers are correct for DecalLevel and DecalMaxLO, so take a look on what's inside the decals.ini [Decal001] MeshName=Lownose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=2.50,-0.05 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal002] MeshName=Lownose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=2.50,-0.05 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal003] MeshName=nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=2.50,-0.05 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal004] MeshName=nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=2.50,-0.05 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal005] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=2.50,-0.05 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal006] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=2.50,-0.05 Rotation=0.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal007] MeshName=LeftOuterWing DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=-4.70,-2.70 Rotation=30.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal008] MeshName=RightOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns Position=4.70,-2.70 Rotation=30.0 Scale=1.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal009] MeshName=Verttail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFFin Position=-5.75,1.40 Rotation=2.5 Scale=1.62 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal010] MeshName=Verttail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFFin Position=-5.75,1.40 Rotation=-2.5 Scale=1.62 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal011] MeshName=Verttail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\D\num Position=-5.68,0.91 Rotation=2.5 Scale=1.35 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal012] MeshName=Verttail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\D\num Position=-5.68,0.91 Rotation=-2.5 Scale=1.35 DecalMaxLOD=3
Spinners Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Is it a file path problem? Is the download meant for SF1?
+Wrench Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 did you move the decals folders INTO the /Objects/Decals/*nameofaircraft*/*nameofskin*/D folder??? remember -- SF2 don't do decals like the 1stGens do.... make sure ALL name are correct ... if the folder name in the decals pathway has been changed (ie: A-7H_MF, as shown), make sure the aircraft folder name matches. wrench kevin stein
FrankD Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 tiopilotos, no worries, it's simply that the required files are not in the decals folder, wherever it is. I don't understand why but actually, the authors placed them in the Texture's folder. So all we have to do is to move them in the appropriate folder and make sure the engine will use them. First, in your decals.ini, change all the "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns" entries to "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340HAFINS.tga", and all "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFFin" entries to "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFFIN.tga". Then take the two files "HAFFIN.tga" and "HAFINS.tga" from your "..\Objects\Aircraft\A-7H_MF\HAF340" folder to the "\Objects\Decals\A-7H_MF\HAF340" folder. If the roundel still doesn't show up, in the decals.ini file, change their "DecalMaxLOD" parameter from 4 to 3. Good luck
tiopilotos Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) First, in your decals.ini, change all the "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFIns" entries to "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340HAFINS.tga", and all "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFFin" entries to "FilenameFormat=A-7h_mf\HAF340\HAFFIN.tga". Then take the two files "HAFFIN.tga" and "HAFINS.tga" from your "..\Objects\Aircraft\A-7H_MF\HAF340" folder to the "\Objects\Decals\A-7H_MF\HAF340" folder. I did this and the air force markings are shown now but the S/N numbers are not shown! I probably have to make some more changes. Any ideas? Thanks. Edited March 29, 2011 by tiopilotos
FrankD Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Well, the decals.ini file is searching for tga files that are stored in the folder "A-7h_mf\HAF340\D\", so make sure that in your "..\Objects\Decals\" folder, you have them exactly where they are supposed to be. By the way, while sorting my files, I noticed that the A-7H is included in the Mirage Factory A-7 Super Pack: http://combatace.com/files/file/10655-mirage-factory-a-7-super-pack/
+Dave Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 OR download the SF2 updated versions and the decals work just fine.......work smarter not harder.... Also FrankD the reason there are decals in the texture folders is because before TK changed the decal formats the decals worked in that format.
FrankD Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hello Dave, the Mirage Factory A-7 Super Pack contains the SF2 updated versions, doesn't it? Thanks for the info about the decals in the texture folders, it's good to know

tiopilotos Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 Since there is such a complete pack for A-7, I think there is no reason to modify the existing SF1 A-7H. To be honest I had seen this great pack before but I had totaly forgotten to download it! Anyway thanks for your help and your reminder!
