stingray77 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Now, what it THIS? After updating to June 2011 (and completely reinstalling the Expansion Pack) when starting a campaign I cannot select any add-on-aircraft or skins anymore... When reinstalling the XP (for whatever reason) I had to go back into the aircraft-files and copy in skin-sets which weren't copied over (strange Windows) - might that have sth. to do with it? I'm lost (once again)... Quote
MigBuster Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Before reinstalling SF did you make a copy of your mod folders and then move them back in? Sorry you reinstalled Windows XP as well?? Quote
stingray77 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Sorry, with "XP" I meant the "Vietnam Expansion Pack"..... So, in the mod-folder I do find all my aircraft - and they are perfectly selectable on "Single Missions" (I think - I'm not fully sure now, if I checked that - at least they all do apear in the drop-down!), but when setting up a new Campaign with, say, F-4B_67 and VF-111 I do only get TW's stock VF-111 skin... Furthermore I cannot create any Campaign with aircraft other than the stock TW's..... Quote
Fubar512 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Are the aircraft and squadrons (which determine textures) listed in your campaign data? Quote
stingray77 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 Yessir - everything looks like it has to! What is different to before, is that when I create/select my F-4B-VF-111 Campaign, in the Loadout-screen the aircraft- and squadron-drop downs are all greyed out... No selection allowed there (so no modded VF-111-skin!). Not good... Quote
MigBuster Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 If everything is in single missions okay - there is something up with the specific campaign files - without more info. If you have added the jets to squadrons in the campaigns_data.ini - are they in their correct corresponding entries in the campaigns .ini file? Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Yessir - everything looks like it has to! No selection allowed there (so no modded VF-111-skin!). Not good... when its greyed out does it still list the aircraft, squadron and texture in the loadout? just greyed out so it cannot be changed? Quote
stingray77 Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 No, it's greyed out and cannot be selected - so no way to see wheter there's sth behind it (what I do suppose, too - it's just not accessible). So, MigBuster, what can I check or copy back (from my backup) concerning any screwed Campaign-Data? 1) A quick-check comparing the campaign-data with the back up of my latest campaign showed they look pretty much the same - same number of files, total size of files the same..... Where (in what .ini) would I have to look for the aircraft? 2) I was flyíng Linebacker I and when comparing the Campaign2 ini with my latest backed up one I find about the same aircraft in it... All in all it looks like TW doesn't allow me to change skins any more...!? Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 in single mission mode it has to do with the decallevel in the skins decal ini. it needs to have 0,1,2 levels in the ini to show in the loadout screen as available without any gray out. as to its effect in the campaign i cannot say. and as TK said in the TW forums on this issue, if you have a VF111 skin(skin not decal) then you shouldnt be able to choose VF84 because Jolly Rogers wouldnt be flying a Sundowners marked aircraft! MigBuster Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Can you just run through this please (2.3 and 2.4 ) to check that the changes you made when changing the jet or skin are correct: http://combatace.com/topic/44798-adding-aircraft-to-campaigns-in-sf2/ Quote
+eburger68 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Stingray77: If you can't select any third-party/non-stock aircraft to fly in campaigns, then something's wrong with your installation. I just checked the SF2V Expansion Pack on my system with the Jun2011 patch, and third-party aircraft are perfectly flyable in campaigns. The skins are another issue. It appears that TK has disabled the ability to change the skin, aircraft number, service, or unit (Squadron Markings) within the campaign (emphasis on WITHIN). To verify this, I selected the F-105D for a Rolling Thunder campaign, then selected the 12th TFS. The F-105D is a stock aircraft using all stock skins -- in other words it's not been modded much in the Expansion Pack, save for some Loadout customizations. Even with that aircraft and that unit, the Paint Scheme, Service Markings, Squadron Markings, and Aircraft Number are all greyed out. They can't be changed. So, it appears that if you want to use a custom skin that you added to your install in the campaign, you'll have to hack the Campaign_DATA.INI to point the unit at that skin. Eric Howes Quote
stingray77 Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 Thanks everybody for their input... Daddy: fully clear that when I select VF-111 I cannot switch over to VF-84 - but that wasn't what I was after... MigBuster: okay, sth. for me to make sure... Eric: okay, so by changing the Campaign-data I might direct SF2V to always bring up Sundowner's high res VF-111-skin instead of TW's stock ("sharkmouth")? That would get me miles ahead at least... I'll also double-check whether the mass of aircraft coming with the Expansion Pack can be selected on campaigns.... So, I'll dive into your hints and give them a checkout. Thanks again. Quote
stingray77 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Okay, so this is my summary: - setting up Campaigns did change with the June-Patch. Campaigns are now being selected by aircraft firstly and squadron as a next step (before you selected your squad and still had kind of a "full selection") - SF2V seems to narrow your selction to squads active for that period - so you cannot select a VF-111 Linebacker II anymore, because in reality they weren't there (can anyone copy my assumption?) - add on skins can still be set as draft skins by a.m. procedure (post #10 by MigBuster) Thanks again for everybody's input!
