colmack Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) witch numbers do you need to change to make a SAM not as good? the thing is very "Hollywood-esque" it basically does a 180 and comes after the target gets on your six and changes course to match yours until it gets ya Edited August 23, 2011 by colmack Quote
MigBuster Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Crikey - not from what I have observed - in SF2 they are really dumbed down compared to SF1. Which model of SAM in particular and what are you doing to beat it? SAMs will change course - they are guided and it depends on the model of SAM and countermeasures you employ as to whether you stand a chance of survival. However as in real life once you have defeated the radar lock from the ground (e.g Fansong) or its gone past you the thing is defeated - this is NOT "hollywood-esk" at all. Do you play with a TrackIR? because without that its difficult to get a 3D perspective on things and assume its doing something totally different to what its actually doing. Quote
Fubar512 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) Very Hollywood-esque? I've never seen a SAM in this series (stock or even 3rd party), miss and then reaquire. Here's what is essentially a 40 year old SAM. Notice how it maneuvers while acquiring and chasing down a target. Do you find that too "Hollywood-esque", as well? : Edited August 23, 2011 by Fubar512 Quote
colmack Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 It's the SA-N-11 used on the UDALOY II Class ship. witch is in essence a SA-19 used on the 2S6 Tunguska platform I don't mind so much that it chases me down but that hard 180 just sticks in my craw, I'm pretty sure that it is really IR guided but sense its tied to the UDALOY II's main SA-N-9 missile system I think it's using Radar tracking also.. I would just like to tone it down a bit. colmack Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Boy... Fubar maybe i should adjust the numbers on the Kyndra's SA-N-1 Quote
Fubar512 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 SA-19 is essentially a SAHM with an optical backup, and is not IR-guided. Each Kashtan mounts 8 of them (plus reloads): http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/sa-19.htm The data you've posted is suspect, and not even close to reality.
