lederhosen 7 Posted September 20, 2011 Salute been flying 12 or so missions as FA(A)250 in 1916. Had a few nice missions, but no one seems to be firing. Sometimes our escorts move off to engage and I see now firing A few missions we run into 10 Dh2's with altitude but they dont attack us Is my game running correctly? +Polovski 460 Posted September 20, 2011 Ai fires normally fine..so if they aren't ever firing something is wrong of course. Try changing the AI setting in the workshop and make sure you play via OFF Manager not directly running cfs3.exe.
Olham 164 Posted September 20, 2011 Sometimes planes with a specific mission won't attack you; they may even carry on with their ground attacks, when you engage them, and only after firing at them, they will turn round and fight. Perhaps you should attack some craft? Do you use a "no tracer" mod ?

I'll force a fight next time just to see what happens Led
Creaghorn 10 Posted September 21, 2011 (edited) AI can't see through clouds. there are also sometimes haze or cloudlayers which is invisible or almost invisible for you, but for AI it's still a cloud he can't see through. with the weather mod it's possible that some of those invisible clouds are appearing more often than in stockversion, and therefore you can see the AI formation, but they can't see you because you both are flying through clouds (for you invisible though). best would be to deactivate the weather mod and try it again. maybe it's just coincidence or just strange luck, but that seems logical to me. Lewie 7 Posted September 22, 2011 I've got a 1916 DH2 pilot who's first few days on the front were filled with contacts with Rolands and Einies going out of their way to press home attacks. At one point he lost three planes in four days.
+Polovski 460 Posted September 22, 2011 As always we can only help with the standard install - modded we cannot help with, so check with no mods is the first thing I'd do.
Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted September 23, 2011 The HPW skies mod is a very small mod. Basically, I took two or three existing OBD cloud types and made mostly minor changes to some aspect of the cloud type (height, density) to "create" a new cloud type. I then inserted the new cloud type into the cloud array used by some of the weather conditions (good, light, medium, heavy, variable, precipitation), depending upon the cloud type and the weather condition. The result should not have much, if any, effect on the AI's ability to see through the clouds, but of course there is the possibility, as Pol said.
+Polovski 460 Posted September 24, 2011 Of course mods are often fine, and we all like using mods for sims and games. The problem is things can go wrong with user side too - installing, moving or editing files for example. Or say sometimes the modder had no idea that the developers changed the meaning of a setting or variable that can cause knock on effects is another example. Anyway for these reasons and more it's impossible for us to help anyone with altered files (most support is on the same basis). Led - if you get it clean and still have a problem also check which AI you have set in workshop if you have HITR installed. Also make sure you fully patched BH&H first before installing HITR if you have it, and patch HITR too. http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm#Installation_and_settings Also check no AV is blocking OFF.dll or OFFManager. Olham 164 Posted September 24, 2011 (edited) My tip, Lederhosen, is simply this: Create another pilot in 1918, in an active area (west of Cambrai for example). You shall definitely get involved into air combat soon and can see, if it works. As Creaghorn pointed out, even thin layers of vapour can hide you from the AI's view sometimes. So you should also deactivate HPW's weather/cloud mod, until you see fights and tracers. Now you could re-activate the mod, and test with the same "action-pilot". If you see fighting and tracers, you have the proof that it works alright, and that the 1916 pilot just is flying in a quiet area, or was lucky all the time. Creaghorn 10 Posted September 28, 2011 dear mr lederhosen, it would be great if you could tell us if you still have the problem and if you tried it with or without mods etc. an answer would be appreciated since it might help others and also it would show if the weather-mod has something to do with. if, then HPW might take a look, if not, then the mod would be clear of false accusation. cheers
