+elephant 36 Posted June 14, 2012 I accidentally stumbled on a pic of a couple of dismantled Albatros D.Va-s, at TVAL site. The artwork on the fuselage band of the left one came as a surprise to me... It seems to me like a man from the Orient (Ali Baba?)...or I'm terribly wrong? How about the diagonal bands? Could they be red and blue? Is there any piece of info available on that D.Va? The other plane seems to be a Jasta 1 machine? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

+quack74 329 Posted June 14, 2012 These D.V's are from Jasta76b. The one on the left is believed to belong to Walter Boning if I remember correctly. And the one on the lef does display the city arms of Muenchen, Bavaria. Good call Olham. The band colors are black and yellow. This is all from memory. I have the info somewhere on this picture. I had this clearer pic from Wingnut Wings: The city arms of Munchen seems most probable for a Bavarian Jasta.. . Still much artistic licence must have been taken, as the man doesn't look like a monk to me at all... When I first saw it I thought he was wearing a fez... I bet he added a beer mug to the monk's right hand. In the left he should be carrying a bible, but it looks more like a filled glass to me. The band colors are black and yellow. Hasse Wind 46 Posted June 15, 2012 Once again - how unfortunate they took so few colour photos in WW1! Do you Albatros gurus know of any original colour photos of German WW1 aircraft? Photos that have been coloured by hand later don't count. The French, being the pioneers of colour photography, took at least some such photos of their aircraft. Actually, there is a Walter Boning skin for the D.Va that is erroneously based on a D.V scheme. I have seen many skins for the Albatros series based on outdated data in OFF...
