Olham 164 Posted October 4, 2012 (edited) Some time in the nearer future (often vaguely described as "two weeks") WOFF will come out. I wonder which graphic cards would be "best buys" for WOFF as well as for other modern games / sims? Of course: if you have the money, you can get super-cards for over 1000,- Euro, and you should never have a problem. But I am not in the situation, that I can spend big amounts on a graphic card. On the other hand it is often wrong to save 50,- Euro, when you can get something a lot better for that extra money. But what is the best we can get in the range of 200,- Euro - 300,- Euro? (Or should one even invest more than that?) Could some of you users here come up with some facts and recommendations? And could you please confirm them with data or knowledge? Maybe you devs find, you should not make recommendations, but perhaps you could tell us what cards you are using for testing WOFF right now? markl 1 Posted October 4, 2012 I am looking a possible NVidiw 660 TI 2 gig ram for Christmas. If you have a modest monitor 21 or 22 inch you really do not need a mega card as most PC games are optimised for consoles these days. This lowers the standard for PC users but does make it cheaper for the graphics cards. I play Skyrim a bit with mods and the mods give me problems with a 1 gig of memory graphics card. According to Atomic Magazine I get 2 gig of memory is best if you want to run high res texture mods for Skyrim and other games. Maybe the devs wil let us know what card they are using currently as no one gives game specs before pending release. Cheers MarkL
Andy73 3 Posted October 4, 2012 Well I'm not sure, but I think my Geforce GTX 460 will be strong enough to handle with WOFF... I hope so Otherwise I will go for a 560 GTX or even a 660 TI (310 Euro).
Panama Red 22 Posted October 4, 2012 If you go to this site every month, you can see what video cards they recomment (per each dollar range) and then you can decide yourself: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html
Olham 164 Posted October 4, 2012 Yeah, Tom'sHardware is a place to check. For Germans: PC-GAMES / HARDWARE is always worth a comparison check: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Grafikkarten-Hardware-97980/
UK_Widowmaker 571 Posted October 5, 2012 I've no plans on upgrading at the moment. Although WOFF should be a great improvement..I don't think it will be as hungry as say FSX with addons etc...and my Nvidia GTX 560TI seems to cope well enough
nbryant 8 Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) I'm still running an ATI 5770 which has handled most applications well. Not sure when but I am likely to upgrade sometime in the nearer future.......... I am just a glutton for detailed graphics, adds to the immersion for me. Edited October 7, 2012 by nbryant
