+whiteknight06604 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 has anyone added any to any of the continental US maps? might be fun once in a while to do some bomber intercepts. Quote
+whiteknight06604 Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Strike Fighters NA introduced "off map" airbases. Mainly for bombers to enter the battle from airbases far outside the scope of the maps. They enter at a point on the edge of the map. I was hopeing somone had added a couple soviet "off map" bases to terrains like DBS or American northwest to have us based intercepters going after Soviet long rang bombers. Quote
+331Killerbee Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I have Guam, Cubi Point and Tiawan working for the US side in SF2Vietnam. 331KB 1 Quote

jeanba Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Sorry, answer to my first question is here : http://combatace.com/topic/71233-new-entrys-on-sf2-na/ Have to check for next one Quote
arthur666 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Interesting idea. We have the F-102/F-106. Might be a fun mini campaign. I have added off-map AB's to most of the stock terrains. Quote

jeanba Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Just checked : You cannot choose them as airbase in the mission editor, nor as a player plane in the campaign (in this case, you are located to anotehr airbase) If you make a mission (SF2NA, intercept with Tomcat), Off based aircraft appear and return around the coordinate you specify That's what I understood for the moment 1 Quote
arthur666 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 (edited) Did you add Waddington on WOE map ? Naw, I just added USAirbase1, USAirbase2 and USAirbase3. North, Central and South. Also put in a UK base. [TargetArea337] Name=US Air Base 1 Position=200000,450000 ActiveDate=0 Location=12 Alignment=FRIENDLY OffMapAirBase=TRUE The bomber squadrons I put there do indeed show up. I place them about 200000(whatevers) from the map border Edited March 27, 2013 by arthur666 Quote

+Wrench Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 afaik, they are NOT player useable; mostly because they exist "beyond the rim" (ok, The Wall) designed for AI controled bombers, and maybe fighters too Quote

+whiteknight06604 Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 stupid question but how does one figure out where to put the off map base? cordinate wise? Quote
jeanba Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 stupid question but how does one figure out where to put the off map base? cordinate wise? Actually, from what I understood, you do not input the coordinate of the base but the coordinate at which aircraft taking off from this base will be "spawned". The last thing I could not do is to open the mission editor and affect this base to an AI flight. Is this possible ? Quote
+whiteknight06604 Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 yeah I just don't know how to figure out the cordinants... Quote
+Wrench Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 use the WoVSqmd, the old 1stGen mission builder; it gives a GREAT x/y display on screen Quote
+eburger68 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Wrench: Yep, that's exactly what I use to plot out front lines, MOVEMENT.INI routes, and now SF2NA campaign carrier group positions. Saves a lot of time. And you can save the "missions" for future reference. Eric Howes Quote
+SupGen Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 use the WoVSqmd, the old 1stGen mission builder; it gives a GREAT x/y display on screen Where is this thing? I've searched for it a couple of times, never find it. Quote
+Wrench Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) this one is set up for just plane SF2. It's easy to switch to other mods folders... unzip, drop the SF2Sqmd folder into any/all mods folders rename it's folder to match the mods folder rename the exe to match both open, and navigate to the terrain folder you want to see/use NOTE: MUST have all three planning maps extracted and inplace INSIDe each terrain Planning maps MUST be in bmp format. Important: does NOT work AT ALL on the IcelandNA terrain (must be a unicode thing and/or jpg planning maps --and, yes I've tested with bmp planning maps AND ANSI _targets.inis) Edited March 29, 2013 by Wrench Quote
+SupGen Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Hey Wrench, thanks a lot; appreciate the quick response. By the way, did you see this: http://combatace.com/topic/34895-wov-target-object-placement-interface-tool-wip/ (Swambast's latest post) at first I thought you had bumped an old thread to see if I'd spot it but just a coincidence. Looks cool though. Quote
