Invisible Wheels or Hover Craft Syndrome?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a fix for this Hover Craft syndrome?  This aircraft is sitting on the runway waiting for takeoff.

The wheels are there, they just won't deploy and when I do get them down they immediately retract.

It seems like I've seen this before but can't find the forum entry using the search engine.

Thanks for any help..

there was a large and long discussion one this very subject a couple of years back, when we were working on the Indo-Pak mod.

our conclusion, backed by ghostrider883's native insight was the IAF had developed anti-gravity, and hadn't told anyone.

----------

OTH, it's an animation issue

do this to the airbrake statements:

[LeftAirbrake]

SystemType=AIRBRAKE

DeployTime=3.0

RetractTime=2.5

//AnimationID=1

//ModelNodeName=Left_AirBrake

//ModelNodeName=LeftMainGearStrut

//HasGearDownSetting=TRUE

//CloseWhenGearsDown=TRUE

//DeployWhenOnGears=FALSE

//MaxDeploySpeed=250

//MinDeploySpeed=100

//MaxControlSpeed=250

//BlowbackSpeed=125

DragArea=0.40

[RightAirbrake]

SystemType=AIRBRAKE

DeployTime=3.0

RetractTime=2.5

//AnimationID=1

//ModelNodeName=Right_AirBrake

//ModelNodeName=RightMainGearStrut

//HasGearDownSetting=TRUE

//CloseWhenGearsDown=TRUE

//DeployWhenOnGears=FALSE

//MaxDeploySpeed=250

//MinDeploySpeed=100

//MaxControlSpeed=250

//BlowbackSpeed=125

DragArea=0.40

[MainAirbrake]

SystemType=AIRBRAKE

DeployTime=3.0

RetractTime=2.5

//AnimationID=1

//ModelNodeName=MainAirbrake

//ModelNodeName=NoseGearStrut

//HasGearDownSetting=TRUE

//CloseWhenGearsDown=TRUE

//DeployWhenOnGears=FALSE

//MaxDeploySpeed=250

//MinDeploySpeed=100

//MaxControlSpeed=250

//BlowbackSpeed=125

DragArea=0.71

the only real way to fix it, is in MAX. The animations need to have the own settings, and NOT linked. With the above, the airbrakes will still work, but the gear doors just won't open.

Gnats and Ajeets used the gear doors, opening seperatly from gear extension, as their airbrakes

Thanks Wrench,

   That fixed it.  Solved a dilemma.

   I'm giving the Ajeet to the US Marines to fly escort for the Attack Gnat I gave them,

   Their solution to the take-off with no wheels was to just pick it up and throw it.  That may have worked for the take-off, but their idea of using a catcher's mitt for landings concerned me and the maintenance guys.

   Working landing gear solves this dilemma.

:salute:

Sheeesh...  Haven't either of you seen Star Wars?  That's an early model land-speeder.

Yes, but the X-wings and Y-wings have retractable skids, and TIEs of all flavors were supported by racks when not in use (they could sit on their vertical fins, but as they did not carry a boarding ladder as a weight savings measure, it made it all but impossible for their pilots to board them from the "ground")

Yeah, those have been used on me in bars.  Wait .... maybe it was just repulsors.     I don't recall anything lifting about those experiences.      Of course, I was a bit besotted.
