Add On Planes Decals Not Showing UP

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what might be wrong?

I add the plane and it shows up in the list of planes in single mission.

When I choose it, it shows up with the correct skin and the Star of David

but it does not show any numbers on tail or body. I check and everything seems

to be there, just not showing up. :blink:

Thanks...

Look into the decals.ini and check, wheter the path of the FilenameFormat is correct.

For instance here an entry of the AH-64

FilenameFormat=AH-64D/USArmy/D/Tailnum

It means: AH-64D folder in aircraft folder

USArmy folder in AH-64-D folder

D folder in USArmy folder

Tailnum   = all Tailnumbers stored in the D folder

A wrong letter can cause that the correct decals are not showing.

Tell us which plane has the problem.

Here is what I found:

[Decal008]
MeshName=Fuselage_Forward
DecalLevel=2
DecalFacing=LEFT
FilenameFormat=F-15C_Baz_85/IDFGrey1/D/BlueCBazSN
Position=6.00,0.3
Rotation=0.0
Scale=0.8
DecalMaxLOD=3

All are in the "Decals" folder in the mod folder. It seems to make sense.

did you place the appropriate folder into the Objects/Decals/ folder???

If possible, post a picute of the Objects/Decals folder of the aircraft (like below) Pay particular attention to the full path written at the top

sf2 runs their decals a bit different thank 1stGens

What does the numbers list say?

And what does the textureset.ini say?

In SF2 there are some useful statements stating the decal batch size. Perhaps they need to be added.

I'm away from my desktop now but compare and contrast with a stock aircraft or a recent add-on aircraft.

This is beyond me.

Wrench, I'm not sure what this means,  "did you place the appropriate folder into the Objects/Decals/ folder???"

I have an objects folder and a decal folder, two separate folders.

Is it possible to run it down like so?

this folder goes in that folder which goes in here? :baby:  :biggrin:

note the pathway in my screenie above:

C:\Users\Kevin\Saved Games\ThirdWire\PTO\Objects\Decals\P-61B\Black\D

Can you take a screenshot of the Baz's decal folder, just like I've shown above? That'll really help in running this down

Spinners raised a valid point ... it's possible that you've run off the end of the numbers list .ini. Without the decal randomization = true tag (given to us in 2012? iirc), and the size (or amount) of the decals, could be why you've nothing on the bird.

Here's what we need:

What does the texturelist ini look like inside?

How many level 2 decals are there (look for these BlueCBazSN***.tga -- there should be numbers starting with 000 and going to ??where???

Are the folders actually where they're supposed to be? Meaning: is there actually a named aircraft folder (F-15C_Baz_85) INSIDE the /Objects/Decals folder?

The texture list ini should should something like this:

[TextureSet]
Name=Overall Black
Nation=USAF
Squadron=
Specular=0.300000
Glossiness=0.850000
Reflection=0.000000
DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE
DecalNumberBlockSize=32
DecalNumberStart=0
DecalNumberEnd=31

I'm just using the P-61, as that's what I'm working on. It's just a name to work with.

You'll see the Randomization statements

Again, without knowing EXACTLY how the folders are placed on you machine, severely limits what we can "see"

This is what I have found:

[TextureSet]
Name=No. 106 Spearhead Squadron (91)
Nation=ISRAEL
Squadron=106IDF
Specular=0.200000
Glossiness=0.250000
Reflection=0.100000

Doesn't seem complete compared to the above sample.
I just got into Windows 7, so I am still not sure how to take screenshots.
When I figure that out I'll be back.

same as since Win95 .. hit the PrtScn button, it'll hold the image in the clipboard, open your imaging program of choice (Paint.net, Photoshop, etc) go "New"... and drop/paste in the image.

save a jpg, and attach here

The decals folder should be inside the objects folder.

Sorry for not replying sooner but I got out last time and now it won't let me log back in to Combatace.

Or Column 5 for that matter.

Spinners, you hit the nail on the head.

I dropped the decals folder into the objects folder and everything works great now. Thank you very much!!

I was trying to post a screenshot but the system wasn't having any of it.

If someone there could check and see if there is something on that end that is stopping me from logging on

it would be most helpful. I have to go to Kinko's to get back in.  Thanks.
