+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) V2K recheck pls the "Shape" of the Vtails, you have no edges on the surface on the real thing and ther e is no flat "area" on top of them. This flat surface was on the old MiG-25 SF1 & 2 models, but that was wrong. here a kind of side view of the 31`s Vtail And as you can see on the last pic, the round shape of the "nozzles / Exhaust" area is going over to the tail part of the fuselage. I t has a less edgy shape as the MiG-25 And the exhaust`s need to be moved more invard as you can see it on the last pic too 3 views are good for the overall rough shape and dimensions but for details I use always walkarounds, you see the difference?! My Vtails are also under construction Edited May 11, 2014 by 76.IAP-Blackbird Quote
Stratos Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Coupi, i saw you are making the Fouga Skin, i took a walkaround of one on a museum here, if you need to get more details, i´ll be happy to share it. Salvadorean Magisters? Will like to see more of them. Quote
+Veltro2k Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Question. the Airbrakes act also as part of the gear doors...how can they be set up for both ? either one works or the other 2 Quote
+Veltro2k Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 still looking for some help giving this bird a proper skin...IM me please 2 Quote
+russouk2004 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) For airbrake\gear door problem....for a\b anim...create an invisible box etc...use box for animation as parent for a\b,and then for the box, link to whatever the a\b was linked to...then in ini use the name of the box...so it operates independent of gear door as required. I had to use that method for a gear shock anim as it used same parts for 2 animations, that way u get them to act as seperate anims or together if u have trouble...send me the max file and i ll set it up for you.. not sure but I think you left out intake doors for anti debris ingestion and extra intake of air for landind at slow speeds...see pice below.31 has them..im sure the 25 had them too.. mig 31 nozzles completely different.for the ..outer petals gone...its one single outer cover, for the 25 they removed petals where nozzles met to aid them opening fully, and fitted an insert...see here below 2 pics mig25 burners, last pic mig31 with all in one outer covers. +76.IAP-Blackbird Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Veltro, have you worked out the intakes? Placed the engines "fans" at the right place / depth inside the intake? We have worked around it on our MiG-25, was a PITA together with the landing gear, but it worked! Hope to see similar stuff on your bird. Looks good so far Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 This is what I mean Look how deep our fans are placed, position is final, only working on the right diameter of the intake tunel Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Do you have something similar for the 25? Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Need to model the intake cover, can those parts be activated by speed changes without needing an animation slot for them? They slow down the airspeed inside the intakes, as the plane gets faster, so that would be a nice visual effect. But Im not sur eIf I ran out of animationslots on the 17 or the 25 Quote

+FLOGGER23 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 It Applies to both, Ed, i would like to check those jpgs, to see what can be done, if you have the patience of course, since i'm also working in your Blackjack, just if possible, i have some walkarounds of the 31... Quote
+Veltro2k Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 went on youtube..don't see that the intakes move like the one on the f-15 ? Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 not the whole intakes, there are kind of plates inside the intakes Quote
logan4 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 (edited) Blackbird talks about this aspect of the intakes. Edit: in theory if you link each plate to the next you can use them without animation setting, only you have to set their pivot points to their edges so the rotation will happen on the right place. Also you will have to create an entry for each plate in the data.ini. use: SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_MACH For the deploy, retract and deflection values you will have to experiment to get it right. +russouk2004 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Same as on the 29....large door stops ingestion of debris on taxitakoff lower is for extra volume of air into intakes on lowspeed approach... 2 blue meshes here ...urs looks ok... Quote
+russouk2004 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 (edited) Lower door set as SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_MACH or...as its for landing....set to open with flaps intake doors are set with main gears anim when gears down, doors slightly open more or less as above...then close when gears up...or off ground, whichever is 1st Edited June 3, 2014 by russouk2004 Quote
+russouk2004 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 on vid on this page, bottom door is indeed shown retracting when gear closes and opening when gear does...lower ramp that is.. http://combatace.com/topic/67464-wip-mig-25pd-cockpit/page-12 Quote
