Dysko Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 This week-end the 75th anniversary of Locarno Swiss mixed-general aviation and military airport was celebrated with an airshow which involved many warbirds and some Swiss Air Force assets. Classic Formation, with a DC-3 and 2 Beech 18s Swiss Bucker Team EC-635 SAR demo Super Puma fast-rope insertion and quick extraction Yves "JetMan" Rossy Fliegermuseum Altenrhein's de Havilland Vampire and Hawker Hunter PC-6 Turbo Porter parachuting a recon team Breitling Jet Team Junkers Ju-52 with 17 parachutists on board. 3 of them carried the Swiss flag, the Canton Ticino flag (Canton Ticino is the Swiss canton which houses Locarno) and the Swiss Air Force flag. This Messerschmitt Bf.108 Taifun was personally used by the top Swiss general during WW2. It has been preserved in Dubendorf museum for some decade, and now it has been restored to airworthiness. Since the turboprop engine is much more light than the piston counterpart, the nose has been lengthened in order to maintain the position of the center of gravity.
