Cool.  I visited the USS Massachusetts back in the day when you were allowed to pretty much roam free at will and enter the turrets, etc.  They did not have Plexiglas barriers in place back then, so could pretty much check everything out at close quarters.

I have also visited the USS Texas and the USS New Jersey.  The Texas was eye-opening, it seemed to have been designed for a crew whose average height must have been less than five foot six.

A foreman that I used to work for was a crew-member on the North Carolina in 1945.

Nice pics. Looks like they've kept the old ship in good shape. I always wanted to be a volunteer on the USS Midway back in San Diego. Guess that will never happen now.

(must locate and scan the few I took on Missouri in 91, on her way to Hawaii)

Fubar512, I am a bit jealous, getting to see a ship with no barriers.  I have been to the USS Alabama (BB-60), USS Missouri (BB-63), and this is my second time to the USS North Carolina (BB-55). I would really like to see the USS Texas (BB-35) but I am from Michigan and I don't know when I will ever get the chance to go to Corpus Christi, Texas.

Thanks, pcpilot. To bad about the USS Midway (CV-41), I have been aboard the USS Yorktown (CV-10) at Patriots Point in Charleston, South Carolina. I bet the Midway is impressive to see. Do you gave any pictures of her?

Wrench, I would like to see those pictures. I should probably scan the pictures my family took aboard Missouri at Pearl Harbor in 2001.
