+1977Frenchie Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 To those who are most experienced with these sort of things, is there an improvement in the FPS of the game if every image files are jpeg ones instead of bmp? My game runs almost smoothly with the stock files, but when a flight of b-52's drop hell on the target the FPS is going rock bottom, even if i set visual effect to low (btw, exhaust smoke détails on the BUFF are the stock one's)... Do335 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 had the same problem... hated it because it always happened when i'm right on the other guy's tail and about to shoot then --> slideshow. minimized it by reducing the "visibledistance" of the emitters in the ps.ini, if you wanna try it http://combatace.com/topic/78638-fps-friendly-particlesystem-file/ PS to the old timers, is this why TK never included the b-52s in the 'nam campaigns? MigBuster Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 B-52s are all over the Linebacker II campaign Quote
+russouk2004 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Large bmp files are fps killers, any large formats do for that matter,I prefer compressed jpgs as size is 1\4 of a bmp..its a pity we cant use other formats for skins etc. Quote
MigBuster Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Pretty sure some 3rd party models use .dds Quote
