SF2 Vietnam. Homeplate Carrier Missing at Launch

Recommended Posts

I recently installed SF2 Vietnam. When selecting missions that have me launching from carrier, the carrier is not under me at start. Rather I'm slowly sinking into ocean and explode, as I get "Mission Accomplished" message. What's missing /corrupted? Note. I have not added any additional or alternative terrain files such as "Greem Hell" etc.

Thanks,

Could be  I was trying to launch some old Yanke Air Pirate Missions that may be mapped to terrain diffrently. Could that be it?

That is exactly what the issue is.

them's not compatible with a stock install. they are their own thing, and need a separate install. don't mix them

A mission editor template I created for the a modern United States Navy Carrier Battle Group (CBG) in Digital Combat Simulator (DCS).
Notes: This template is supposed to represent a current CBG using whatever is available in DCS. Since the game does not have the F/A-18E/F model of the Hornet, legacy "C" model of the hornet is used to fill up the flight deck (since the Navy became an "all Hornet" force with their "Neck-Down" strategy).
*Only F/A-18A+/Cs of the United States Marine Corps are on deck.  A carrier air wing may have one or two attached Marine Corps Aviation squadrons of F/A-18s on board (if resources are available) among the 6 to 7 squadron of fixed-wing aircraft assigned to a carrier (usually all F-18s except for the E-2C/D). However, since the USN decided to remove all legacy F/A-18s from front-line and carrier service in early 2018 (due to aircraft age, maintenance, and budget constraints) and the Marine Corps is finally getting replacement F/A-18 A/B/C/D air frames and parts (ex-Navy air frames), I decided to make this an all USMC air wing.

*The deck is in a launch and recovery configuration. There are no planes parked on the forward cats (cats 1 and 2). Cats 3 and 4 are also free for use (there are aircraft parked close enough to waist cats to get blown over).
*No aircraft or rotors should be over the foul lines. Enough of the carrier's aircraft are gone (i.e. out on a operation) but enough are on deck for immersion. *CH-53Es are on deck for vertical replenishment or troop transport.
*The frigate (no USN destroyers in DCS) and cruiser escorts have two anti-ship/anti-sub helos that they can share. The escort ships are arranged in a screen but one can be moved closer for "plane guard" launch or recovery operations via the editor.

The file can be found here: http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/file/3559-uss-john-c-stennis-cbg-template/
Different "modern" eras can be created using the same template.

*The EA-6B and MH-60 are the only USN aircraft missing from DCS at the moment.

For the late 1990s-early 2000s place one or two F-14 squadrons near the fantail with at least three to four S-3Bs on deck.

SF2 Vietnam Hi-Res 1024x768 Menu Screens and Music!
By Viper

Special thanks to Homefies and Spectre8750 for their contributions that led me here...

This mod includes custom "Vietnam Era" themed menu screens, pilots and music. God willing, this is the final version!

What's new?

1) Cut and looped the menu music so they are smaller and loops nicely in the menu.
2) Entended the loading wav so the sound doesn't cut out while the game is trying to load all the mods (LOL).
3) Updated and completedly redid the Stock and Expanded Vietnam Campaign screens (More of this later).
4) Changed, added and updated some of the menu screens! I can never leave well enough alone...sorry.
5) PLus a couple of easter eggs...well not much of an easter egg...it's on the first screen...

Campaign screens: There are two new folders in the package. 1) Campaigns and 2) !Optional...

1) The "Campaigns" folder contain new images for the Vietnam Campaigns. This is optional, but I think they look better when in Campaign mode...
2) The "!Optional" folder contain new images and INI files for the Vietnam Expand Air and Ground War. Read the "Read-Me" in that folder for more detail.

Un-compress the package and browse the content. As usual, there are alot of alternate screens you may like better. If you choose to install these screens, I recommend that you back up your CAMPAIGN, FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders in the SF2 Mod folder you're installing this mod into. Just in case you want to go back to your original setup.

To install, simply unzip and copy the uncompressed CAMPAIGN, FLIGHT, MENU and PILOTDATA folders to your StrikeFighter2 mod folder. If you have the "Expanded Vietnam Air & Ground War" Package installed, take a look and copy the CAMPAIGNS folder in the "!Optional" folder into your mod folder as well. Don't forget to back up before loading any mods!

My StrikeFighter2 mod on Win97 64-bit was..(yours may be different)...

Enjoy!
