Crawford 570 Posted February 10, 2016 Try saving the .ini files as Ansi, not Unicode. No, that's not the point. The .ini files are ANSI by default, not Unicode. The game "sees" Gladiator_Mk2, but the screen is empty. I have found other way. So far as these models externally do not differ, I simply have transferred four GladMK1_LOD files into a folder of the Mk.2. Then has renamed them as GladMK2_LODs. Thus, the plane has appeared on the screen, but as albino. Further I has renamed textures of wings and fuselage in RAF 4-color folder. Instead of MK2_ I have designated them as MK1_. After that all has earned well.

Perhaps you know best about that. Probably I need to download the Mk2 archive once again.
Wrench 9,883 Posted February 11, 2016 as has been said before, and we'll keep repeating it till the point is made: NO FIRST GENERATION GAME (FE/FEG/SF/Wo*) CAN SEE A LOD THAT IS EXPORTED FROM A MODERN VERSION OF MAX -- THESE LODS ARE IN UNICODE. ONLY THE 2nd SERIES (SF2/FE2) CAN READ THE UNICODE LODS. What format the inis are in is of no consequence. Your descriptions fits exactly the what happens when one tries to do so -- seeing (or NOT seeing) the external model. There is only one cure - evolve to FE2/SF2.
Crawford 570 Posted February 12, 2016 Yes, I know. All about what you say, I have understood a very long ago. If I had such opportunity, I'd evolve to the 2nd series. But now it is useless for me to attempt to find FE2/SF2. In the present case it seemed strange that my "obsolete" version of the game sees and displays the external model of MK1, but does not display the external model of MK2. Does it mean that the Mk1 model was created in the old version of Max, while the Mk2 is exported from a modern version of Max? Maybe it's really my unique problem.
Crawford 570 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) As I have said, of these 'trio' of the Gladiators only the Mk1 can be integrated into FEG without any problems. So, if it is designed specifically for FE1/FEG. At the same time, the other two aircraft have problems. But I have a good news for users of early versions of the game. Mk2 and Sea Gladiator can be flyable in our obsolete version of the game too. To achieve this, you should use the way, open by Stephen1918 for the CR.42. you can make a backup of the ini file, then delete all the LODs except the first one and run the game. The plane should show up. Then try adding the LODs back in, one at a time until it stops working. Then adjust the distances in the ini file. In the file named Gladiator_MK2.ini change the distance in LOD001 to 7000: [LOD001]Filename= GladMK2_LOD1.lodDistance=7000 Then delete LOD002, through LOD004. The same applies to the .ini file of the Sea Gladiator. Edited February 20, 2016 by Crawford
Wilches 1,172 Posted March 1, 2016 Geezer, your GladiatorMkI runs very nicely on SFP2. No bugs reports so far. Is there any way to close the canopy? Baffmeister and LloydNB are tinkering with some Gladiator releases for SF2, but they are discovering it is a huge amount of "extra" work.
Wilches 1,172 Posted March 1, 2016 Thanks Geezer. I´m my oppinion, for SFP2, for the graphics at least, only the addition of closing canopy, flaps down and hook movement and animation ID is to go. The canopy itself should be leave as closed and opens by speed. The flight model looks ok to me.
+Geezer 3,569 Posted March 2, 2016 Be advised that I am no longer involved Gladiator development - I'm fed up with file bashing. LloydNB and Baffmeister have very graciously agreed to continue development of the SF2 versions. Speaking for myself, I will continue modeling and skinning - because that is what I enjoy - but I will only do production stuff on an occasional basis. Wilches 1,172 Posted March 2, 2016 That´s OK, Geezer. I know what´s like. I did a lot of modeling in a past for EAW and I almost loose my wife. Sometimes some people here makes a lot of pressure to release this or that. Don´t take it hard. I remember that I got every day something like 20 or 30 e-mails per day on EAW time just asking to do a new cockpit. I had no problem with that. Relax and enjoy your life! Cheers!!
