Loading Screen weirdness at 80% help?

Hello!  I have had a weird issue as of late where the mission will load up to 80% and then get stuck there and the mission's sounds start, engine, radio calls, clearance for take off etc its like the mission has started but the screen is stuck on loading.  This usually occurs during single missions on maps like Germany CE or IR2003 I have a full merged install with a Intel i7 12 gb of ram and an intel 5500 graphics card.

I kinda figured it was either a graphics or a terrain issue, has anyone had this happen? or have a fix?  thanks!

Thanks for making such thread, Spudknocker.  I have a similar problem and it is annoying, I don't know why it happens.  I'm wondering if it is caused by a bug in the original game, or if there is a ground object, a .ini file, or whatever it may be (a mod, an addon aircraft/ground object) that freezes the game.  My PC is low spec compared to yours, so I think it has nothing to do with our PC specs.

Hangs at 80% load are generally terrain-object related.  Hangs at 90% are usually ground-objects. Be aware that feature-rich terrains definitely cause a load delay at 80%, even on fast systems. Have you tried a simple terrain, such as the stock desert or the range, to troubleshoot the issue?

Yes simple terrains usually seem to work well.  Just wish I could nail down a fix for this.

The sure fix is, unfortunately, a more capable graphics adapter.

What is a graphics adaptor?

Video card. You are currently using your system's onboard graphics, and as you've discovered, it does't quite cut the mustard. Given the current prices of such things, I'd suggest (at a minimum) a 2 GB GeForce 750ti, or better.

Ah I figured out the problem it was issues with ground objects.  I redid my ground objects folder and it seems to be working fine now.  And I usually get between 40-60 frames a second with the 5500 card.

If it is due to ground objects, then I'm wondering which one precisely does this.  Maybe it's a LOD or .ini issue of a particular object we have in our mods, who knows...

Just a wild guess and I may be wrong, but sometimes anti-virus software updates also can cause that, (although at 40 % loading phase).

 

On my case was Avast anti-virus, which after some regular update messed with some .dll libraries or something.

Even after adding the respective files / folders to the exclusion list, they were already "quarantined"... so, had re-install SF2.

Interesting!  also I find that having graphics settings on unlimited helps because the game doesn't have to try and shrink all the BMP/JPG files.  Oddly enough I get faster loading times and higher FPS with highest graphics settings on.  But ya Im not sure what ground object did the damage but I ended up replacing all of my SAMs, AAA and Tanks and no more issues.

      So I'am playing this strike fighters 2 black sea crisis addon and I believe I did everything right . The campaigns work for all factions except United States air force . When I select them and a specific squadron of aircraft and click on generate campaign ,the game just crashes to desktop . The same thing does not occur for Russian , ukrainian air force  and united States navy . What could I be missing here . ? For some reason , the USAF aircraft are easily flown in single mission scenarios . Like the F16 will fly in single missions but when I try to click on its campaign . The game just crashes .

      Hey,
      When I click to run eaw.exe in EAWPRO Basic (the latest version and the previous version), it will now open, black screen, then closes, won't run.
      Win10 doesn't even write a compatibility reg entry for it, and the eaw.ini file does not get written either. and since the older version loaded before, I think its my system only...or win10 only.
      All other EAW games load and run...just not EAWPRO. Maybe a corrupt file??
      So I manually added the primary comp reg entry to the registry. It didn't help. I think eaw.exe is closing before Win10 can try to even load a screen.
      I tried other exe Properties and doubled check windows settings for eaw.exe in its database, alll seemed fine, but its just not running.

      Hello! Im creating a custom campaign on ECUADOR-NSA fantastic terrain, inspired on the81' incident between Ecuador and Peru but moved up to a bigger-scale war 
      So, the basics are there, every unit of the two countries, their bases and their characteristics, the aircraft etc. That is ok
      The in game menu too, campaign is choosable, it creates and both sides with their respective squadroons can be choosen. The campaign starts but here comes the problems
      1) In the ecuador side everything works well until the mission is finished= Crash to desktop
      2) On the Peru side, its worse: No matter what unit of what home base you choose, you always start in the middle of nowhere, only blue sky at sight and the game becomes unresponsive, only way out is the desktop. If i look before launching the mission on the map what is odd is this: No matter what unit and whith its home base you choose, the game appears to duplicate it and launch you at the bottom of the map in the middle of the sea
      idk where the problem could be, i copied desert duel's campaign "base" (air offensives, generic targets etc) because i couldnt find much knowledge about this part. 
      If somebody has a clue, let me know, thank you in advance!

      The new version of SF2 Screen Overhaul 1.2 is now released.  Here is the following screen this mod completely overhaul:
       
      -          Main screen
      -          Single mission screen
      -          Mission editor screen
      -          Hangar (Default) screen
      -          Loadout screen

      -          Campaign screen

      It does not yet cover another screen.  It is work in progress (WIP) for now.  What I am seeking for is feedback that will help me improving the mod further. It is one of my biggest projects I ever worked on for SF2. It gave me opportunity to grow a new skill I enjoy doing. 

      NOTE:  Now that SF2 Screen Overhaul is becoming a customizable version. If you make any mods that adds or change anything to this mod, please add my name and mod name to your credit part.

      Version 1.2 NOTES:
       
      Buttons customization instruction:
      In Menu folder (SF2 mod folder), you will see various SF2 screen named as “BUTTONS_HANGAR, MAIN, OPTIONS, etc...), there are folders for each button.  In order, to change the color of buttons, go to one of button folder, you will see different folders for various color.  Copy the file from there and overwrite the files in any BUTTONS_(SCREEN) folder.

      For example, in BUTTONS_HANGAR, if I want to change the color of “LOADOUT” square button to blue; I go to the folder “LOADOUT”, then “Blue” folder, copy the files: LOADOUT0.bmp, LOADOUT1.bmp, and LOADOUT2.bmp.  Then I paste (Overwrite) the files in BUTTONS_HANGAR.
       
      Screens and Buttons customization Templates
      In different “BUTTONS_(different screen names)”, there are folder “_Templates’.  You can use it to change the designs, colors, or anything you want to do with the screen background or buttons. 
       
       


      This mod uses a font known as Orbitron.  I included it in _Fonts folder.

      I want to express my sincerely big THANKS to Menrva, Wrench, UllyB, Daddyairplanes, Wilches, JosefK, FalonCAF, and everyone else in CombatAce community for making this possible.  You all have been a huge help. 

      Because of Operation Desert Storm 30 years anniversary great mod, I was able to study the codes on how SF2 menu work, which led me into developing new menu for SF2.  This mod is truly fun to fly in SF2.  If anyone hasn’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it.


      There are detailed instruction that explains how to install in the proper ways in README file.  LEASE READ IT BEFORE INSTALLING! 

      I included the plans for the next version in the readme too.
