Sad and yet amazing to see. Good generation lost to salvage but the girls they've been replaced by are 20 times the machine they were, at least we better hope so we've got 1/20th of the fleet we had back in those days. I'll pop a top to solute the generous years of faithful service they provided. I hope their final resting home is maybe a bridge with a fantastic view.

Gotta be honest - I'm surprised the Forrestal wasn't kept as a museum ship given she was the first super-carrier

They rather destroy them...  

I am sure they could have sold them instead.

At least many of the ex soviet ships are still afloat...  Although there were some painful actions there, too(
