I want to add SAM batteries to Libya map, I want Radar guided SAMS, you know SA-2, SA-3, SA-5, SA-6... I copied this from another area in same map, but when I fly over the new target area there are tons of AAA guns but not a single SAM launcher or Radar SAM, can someone tell me where my error is and how to solve it please?

Here the code I use.

Make sure, that the sequenz number is correct. ==> [TargetArea166]

Then make sure, that you fly in a year where the SAM is active.

Then the game engine accept only 16 Flaks or SAMs per target area.

The launchers now appear, after giving the target area only 16 entries, and changing the year, but they appear empty, and never launching, pretty strange.

Then is something wrong with the weapondata. Try a year, where SAMs are normally fully active. Perhaps 1973.

Need to know the type what are you trying to add. also check nations and availability.

If it's about SA-2, then new patch will be released in Dec. As soon as I can take my holidays at last

Simply any Soviet SAM will do, 2,3, 5 or 6, wathever. Simply want a radar guided SAM that engage me when I'm in the area. Also a good bullseye for my HARM's.

I reduced the targets to 16, tried 1973, the SAM appear and shoot now, need to check my SAMS as I want them to appear on later dates as well.

RSS compatible SA-2 has availability from the real world, so you might want to modify the nations.ini for you own needs. I have to endure two more workdays, then this will be the first stuff I will update.

Great news Snail.

BTW Is possible to specify a certain SAM mark? for example to get a SA-5 on certain target area?

Should be possible, if i remember correctly. It has something to do with network.

The SAMLaunchers are connected with certain types of SAMRadars.

For instance the entry:

NetworkType=SA-10

which you find in the FlapLid_data.ini, tell the game engine, that SA-10 belongs to FlapLid SAM Radar.

If you set the correct SAMRadar on the map, the correct SAM typ should appear.

For that the SAM Radar type must be included in the xxx_types.ini of the terrain.

of course you can specificy certain types of SAMs to a location ... I've been doing it for years (especially when the exact type's location is known from kmzs or other map/photo sources)

BUT...

due to internal errors in the game's code, "direct called" SAMs & their associated radars will NOT show up on any RWR (vector, 3-ring or TEWS).

Only the 'generic' callouts will generate RWR readings. A real pisser for someone like me that wants a much geophysical accuracy as possible
