Sokol Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Logan has given us a real christmas-gift in advance: the Mikoyan Ye-8. Today I tried in vain to paint a natural-metal-finish. I did use different combinations of specular, glossiness, reflection, some of them very succesful with other aircraft, but they did not suceed on this one. No shine, no real metal look. There is a "fuselage-spec" file included which presumably should support the job (a la FSX and other sims), but how does it work ? Any help is greatly welcomed. cheers Sokol Quote
+russouk2004 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 If spec map is enabled in 3ds max it over rides game settings in texture ini, IIRC tried changing its spec settings in the texture ini?... Quote
logan4 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) The _spec.jpg was added due to the camos, that should look kind of flat. If you move the current "_spec.jpg" files from the main folder to the individual skin folders (LSK,PVOS) that way the skin you try to create will avoid their use and have a chance to tune the look through the usual way in as above mentioned. Wilches Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Inside the aircraft skin add this lines to the TextureSet.INI: Specular=1.000000 Glossiness=0.400000 Reflection=1.000000 <------- Metallic shine Quote
Sokol Posted December 4, 2019 Author Posted December 4, 2019 thank you, gentlemen. moving the _spec-files to specific subfolders (i.e. those with camouflage-skins) - and deleting them from the main folder - did the trick. cheers sokol Quote
