Which EAW Files Should I Post?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering which files would be of importance to be on CombatACE EAW download section?

Or if you don't know specifically a file, how about a type or description of some file you want/need?

On a related note over at EAWHS:

I have been putting off updating my mediafire account. I'm finding it too difficult to manage quickly. Its a neat setup but I really need 15gigs of FTP space to update the files section on EAWHS properly. :|
I doubt any free service would be available. (I'm not paying for this hobby, more than I have too, its too much work). I've bought backup storage for EAW stuff that I'm working on, and maintain my computer, life and what not.

If you know of a free FTP storage solution, let me know, please.

To be honest, I don't know what I want in EAW. I just play this game because I played it as a kid. Personally, I like full packs, with new theaters, aircraft sets and upgrades.

So you want a modder to have packaged the right files together for you already......

Hmmm, that could be OAW, I "Think" Jel may have released a new OAW package for stock EAWv1.2 in the past 2 years. (In comparison to the old OAW from 2005)

But I don't know if I have it, or where to get it.

Then there's little packages like flight model modifications in a single pack. Skys clouds terrain, etc.

I play these mods. They all are extract and play. I am not familiar with instaling and modding EAW. I dont know what other gamers want, i just say about myself. And sure default EAW is the bess ever among these types of games

I think some of those exe 7z installers for the standalone games are already in a large download put together , here on CombatACE, I think Jel uploaded them, or Erik did.

eh, I see no EAWPRO in your list,....that blows :) You need to read and see about all the changes in it. Its fun to compare from 1.2 to the FXEXE when playing. I jump sometimes from game to game just to see the comparison.
Its worth adding to your collection.

Well about the OAW package, I think FsFOOT had posted a revised package perhaps?? not too sure. I'll have to check my backups, still :)..............

I searched, all I see is the orginal OAW installer (or extracted) files.

I might have over looked the newer OAW, but Jel did update the OAW files more recently than I'm finding on my backups.

Bazillius,

Do you know what the JelFixV2.exe is for?

I ran JelFixV2.exe and it is the in SimHQ disputed version of EAWPRO which he also tried to incorporate into an OAW version.

Regarding the notorious JelFixV2 file

Wow, it is unfortunate that he released your stuff yet again. Sad sorta :\ Over the years I was around, he released several FXEXE inclusions and what not. He even sent me two large files of your work along time ago before I knew you or the situation regarding the split in efforts. I still have them, but I have not use them in a very long time.

Regarding files I post.
I've been updating files and organizing, locally, but mediafire interface slows me down. It seems like more work than using a FTP program.
So I haven't updated the EAWHS Mediafire File Account completely. I make too many changes to the files locally too fast, that its hard to keep track of them all, so I doubt I ever will finish mediafire. There are a few updates I have time to do though.

Regarding files from EAWHS:

I have been adding a lot of file descriptions to my site and some files have been repacked and renamed. I did all this locally and find it much faster if I don't have to keep track of the downloads and changes I make.

I'll try to upload some of them to mediafire but I can't be bothered with uploading all the skins ive added as the folder structure is slow to browse.

I still not sure If I'll be able to find FTP space or what where it would make more sense to handle the files.

Anyhow moving on.

Is anyone interested in a 1.2 to 1.28 patch with installer? and perhaps a 1.28 to 1.28a to 1.28b patches?
I just recently found them in my file pile, and they are the eaw code development / codegroup downloads.....

Maybe I can upload those files.
But If you want, I can upload those files to CombatACE?

I don't recommend you 1.28 GOG players to patch it up, as the eaw.exe would be over written and loose all GOGs revisions to the exe......

Let me know, I may do it anyhow as others have requested a and b separately in the past.

EDIT:

Well I uploaded them and been waiting for them to be processed.

Still, the files for the EAWv1.28 un-official versions are stuck at CombatACE's processing.

I was impatient and I sent a support ticket. Apparently I should have waited a few more days because of the holiday.

Anyhow you can DL those files now from CombatACE's EAW file section.

      Hi everyone,
I'm trying to recreate the 1st Gulf of Sidra Incident with my F-14A Tomcats and my Su-22M3 Fitters, doing it extremely historically accurate, paying attention to every little detail.
So far i've done everything, and it's almost identical to the real one, but there's ONE issue i can't figure out, let me explain:
During the morning of the 19th of August 1981 two F-14A Tomcats intercepted two Libyan Su-22M3 Fitters in the Gulf of Sidra.
The Fitters were equipped with two AA-2 "Atoll".
Just before the merge, while nose-to-nose, one of the two Fitters fired a missile to one of the two Tomcats, but being the missile a very old and primitive heatseeker, it started tracked and going for the Tomcat, but as soon as the F-14 made a slight break, the Atoll lost its track.
      The PROBLEM IS:
There's no way i can make the Fitters shoot the missiles before merging, if only the AA-2, or any other equippable missile was all-aspect or radar guided just like the R-23, i think it would work.
I tried having a head-on merge with two Mig-23 Floggers equipped with radar guided R-23s and they shot at me before merging.
I tried all other available missiles and nothing changed, some didn't show either.
I tried copying and pasting the Data file from the Aim-7 to the R-60 Data file, and nothing changed.
I tried changing the loadout file to R-23, but the Fitters show up without any weapon since there's no R-23 option in loadout for Su-23M3s, so i think it's not possible to have them (and would be historically inaccurate too).
I tried changing enemy difficulty from Normal to Hard, but nothing changes still.
The only thing the Fitters do is shooting their guns just before the merge, but no missiles are fired when nose-to-nose.
Is there a way to fix this? A way i can make my Fitters fire at least one of their missiles when we're nose-to-nose, just like when i got nose-to-nose against Floggers equipped with R-23s?
Is it a problem with the enemy AI? Or with the missiles? Or maybe even with the Su-22M3 Fitter i'm using?
Thank you very much for helping me

      Hi everyone,
I was wondering how to customize the numbers after your callsigns, since it always gives me the same ones.
I think i managed somehow once, a bit of time ago, but now i forgot and have no idea how to.
I'm not talking about how to customize the callsign name, but the unit number after it.
As you can see in the Roster and in the picture under, i get "Fast Eagle 1-1" and "Fast Eagle 1-2"
      Here are some examples:

The numbers on the tail, wing and nose numbers are customized, cause i managed how to change them, choosing them individually for each unit in the mission file by changing "AircraftNumber=" and typing the number, like "2" (as for 202). It doesn't change by typing the whole number tho, like 202 by typing 202, but it goes by typing the number that corresponds to the list of numbers you have. For example, In a list that goes from 200 to 400, you will have to type 10 to get 300. Here i just typed "2" and "7" since the list starts from 200

IIRC, in the past i just used to type the Aircaft number just like that, and in-game i had the proper number after the callsign, like "Fast Eagle 102", not just the number displayed on the plane livery.
How do i do? I'm pretty sure that it's possible to have "Fast Eagle 102" on my screen HUD and in the Roster
Thanks in advance for helping me.

      Hi everyone,
I need help to change the date in "single mission" in the amazing ODS (Operation Desert Storm) mod for SF2
It lets me choose between years 1990-1991-1992
As soon as i end a mission and, for example, i get a medal or an award, it ofc says the date the sortie has been done...
The problem is: since i can only choose the year, and not the month in mission menu, the date is randomically chose (for example i very often get months like august or december, even if the war had been fought only between the second half of January and February 1991, not any other month)
How can i choose the month and day i want to fly for a single mission? So that i can choose the actual days the war happened instead of random 1991 months?
I hope i explained well and that a solution can be found.
I already tried changing Start Year and End Year date with January 1991 and February 1991, but nothing happened
I truly love this mod, and imho it's absolutely perfect, but this is the only thing that "ruins" a bit (like getting a medal which says i flew over Iran on April 1991) and i'd like to fix it but idk how
Thank you so much for helping me, seriously

After a crash, my Strike Fighters 2 Europe keys appear all set as unassigned.
There's no way i can set 'em.
Even if i bind them, they still be unassigned.
I EVEN TRIED REINSTALLING THE GAME, and they are STILL all unassigned...
I seriously have no idea of what to do, since this happened only in Europe and not in vanilla game or North Atlantic.
There's also another problem: keys look "bugged" in SF2 NA, since i binded all of them, but some still don't work.
As these won't be enough, they're bugged also because if i set a key for a specified control, and then i try to unassign it re-pressing the same key on another command, instead of unassigning the first command, it glitches and i can set two or more commands with the same key... this clearly bugged out
Could you please help and tell me what can i do to "unbug" all of this mess?
Thank you a lot guys, i appreciate your help so much

      Hi everybody,
I have a very big issue in Strike Fighters 2, which i also had on Strike Fighters Project 1 before: whenever a radio communication is given (wingman, HQ, etc...) the game FREEZES for a couple of seconds.
I tried EVERY SINGLE THING (lowering graphical settings, selecting my dedicated graphical card as default...)
      Nothing changed.
I discovered that the problem is related to the audio communications files, since i tried deleting all radio chatter files from SFP1 game directory, and the issue is gone, no more stutters or freezes.
The only thing is that i can only play the game without any form of radio communications, just ambience, weapons and plane sounds... that's kinda bad
SO, I finally found out the problem is related to these files, i tried changing the audio channels into the in-game settings, switching from 16 to 8, to 24 and 32... I don't need to tell you that NOTHING HAPPENED.
In conclusion, what can i do?
I'm desperate since i can't find anything similar on the internet, and no one seems to have my same problem, so i can't find any solution.
I thought that it was related just to the old SFP1, since it could maybe have some optimization problem on newer machines... but the exact same happened as soon as i played SF2 for the first time.
I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP, and i thank you A LOT for helping me out, cause i really really have no idea of what to do to play it with radio chatter without being LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE
      Thank you all again
