These were Pedro 1 and Pedro 2 of Brazil, which was an empire for a few decades in the 19th century. Remember that AMERICA is a continent, not one of its many states, the USA (although this is often confused in the everyday language). ;-)

Remember that AMERICA is a continent, not one of its many states, the USA (although this is often confused in the everyday language). ;-) very true and i agree with you but one also has to think about the common usage of words not just the technical usage/definitions. ask anyone with electricity and access to some type of communications across the globe to define America and you will be told of the political entity with a capital in DC and/or its people, culture, organizations or machines. if you managed to ask all 8 billion people, i would venture fewer than 10 million would state "one of two continents in the Western Hemisphere". i tend to think things like that as technical reality vs functional reality. there is what it is, and then what will make a end result for you. sadly the two are rarely mutual
