+ordway Posted May 12 Posted May 12 The legendary SU-34 fighter bomber! This is a SFP2 Thirdwire Sukhoi SU-34 Fullback Platypus Duck WIP (stand-in) candidate. I got tired of seeing the empty SU-34 slot at Combatace :). It is basically finished unless someone has a 3d-model I can use. It is based it on the Marcfighters SU-27. I used the fake pilot method to add the hump, canards, much longer tailcone stinger and co-pilot. The cockpit is based on the B-1 bomber cockpit by Alvaroideal. The fake pilot method means the camouflage scheme and additions are a bit limited but if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck! The data.ini has been modified to represent the Duck. It has a bigger signature among many other electronic and flight model tweaks and is a magnet for enemy fighters. In reality the SU-34 is a much heavier and larger aircraft than the SU-27. Its cockpit is slathered in heavy armor. It flies heaviier as well. The SU-34 eliminated the airbrake on top according to every source I could find. The real Duck includes a resemblance of a toilet, resemblance of a kitchen and a resemblance of bunk space for sleeping. Although it can do effective air combat, this is not its primary role. Imagine dogfighting in a bomber! The Su-34 is seven tons heavier at empty weight and larger compared to the standard SU-27. That's going to have an effect during air combat. +Gepard Posted May 13 Posted May 13 The nose cone of the radom has not the correct shape. The nose of the Su-34 is flat, like a platypus beak. The nose of the Su-27, 30, 35 has a round cross-section. If i see it correctly on your svreenshots the nose of your Su-34 has a round cross-section and not a flat one. Quote
+EricJ Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I'm with Gepard, I mean it's a good stand in, but not the right bird. Quote
+ordway Posted May 13 Author Posted May 13 Thanks Gepard and EricJ. My modelling skills are not good enough to make the nose flat by myself. Farid sent me a model I might be able to use. Thank you Farid! 1 Quote
+ordway Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Here are pics of Farids beautiful new original SU-34 3D model (with a FLAT nose, ha, ha, ha). along with some of his skins with his permission.. .(this model is new and is not the former 3D SU-34 model previously posted on Combatace which "shall not be named." We are collaborating on this project. I am doing .inis and he has done the 3D model. He is working on a beautiful 3D cockpit. He needs to finish it before release . I have my finished stand-in SU-34. I have not decided to release my stand-in for now because it has an incorrect nose shape. Cheers! 9 Quote
