  1. Just some quick and silly thoughts/comments: Ctrl-O = Open a mission file (in the Mission Editor) Also, can we assume that, during your mission, you used the quote key (`) to open the Mission-Goal completion window and confirm that all mission goals have been achieved before saving and continuing onto the next mission? The Mission-Goal window is only available in LOMAC v1.02.
  2. Faust, Here's a little blurb I found in the readme on loss of textures: Have a read through the 1.02 readme sticky found in the topics listing in the LOMAC General Discussion forum for more details. Pages 27-29 of the .pdf version go over the various graphics settings and options. Hope this helps.
  3. Yes, LOMAN is a pretty powerful piece of software. :D
  4. Scamp et al, Sorry that I haven't run into this problem myself. I've scanned all the manuals in my repository, but there is no mention or reference to the issue you're experiencing. I'd scan the UBI forums for you, but they've been off-line for the last 2 days. Hopefully one of the Biohaz members can shed some light here, else I hope to have something from the UBI forums soon once they're back up.
  5. Yes, the deadzone can be quite irritating with the Saitek I currently own. In LockON, I fly a MiG mission and there's no issue. Then I fly an A-10 and the nose keeps diving. Tried trimming it off, but that isn't helping either. Just for the hell of it, after that I went back to the MiG and still no problems in that plane. Thanks for your post.
  6. Welcome. :D There's been quite a bit of interesting news in the last couple of days (primarily in the TacSim/FPS arena), so BioHaz is getting caught up with it.
  7. LOL. You're absolutely right.... upon checking my news source on this one, I discovered it was quite dated. But hey, while we've got the thread going; do you own this game? If so, what are your thoughts/impression of it?
  8. Visible, Thanks for the heads-up on this. I will post some links on our news page regarding it to get the word out to the BioHaz community. :D
  9. Joint Operations: Escalation (click game title for the official Joint Ops website) is the name of NovaLogic's expansion pack for its large-scale PC FPS, due November 16. This will be the first expansion for the Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising title. The conflict will expand from Indonesia into other parts of Southeast Asia. 25 new maps will include such locales as airports, radar stations, and missile facilities. Attack helicopters, battle tanks, dirt bikes, and SAM launchers join the list of drivable vehicles, with an all-new optional third-person view for select vehicles. Other new features announced include ceramic body armor, strategically located base defenses, and airborne drops. The original Joint Operations recently made headlines when NovaLogic announced that the game broke the world record for simultaneous players in an online FPS with 160 concurrent players. It was quickly challenged by SOE’s Planetside, which claimed 500 simultaneous players.
  10. Hey Everyone, I'm thinking of upgrading from my Saitek basement bargain stick to a Saitek Cyborg Evo. Does anyone have this stick, tried it out, or have any impressions on it? It's definitely within my price range in relationship to the number of games I play that require a stick. I'd love to get a Cougar HOTAS or even an X-45, but they're still a bit too pricy for me. Plus I like the ambidextrious features of the Cyborg Evo, because from time to time I like to switch hands (I'm left-handed, golf right, swing a baseball bat left, throw left etc.) I know, it's not realistic in the sense of flying an actual jet. But the Cyborg Evo boasts rudder control with a twist on the stick, so that's a cool compromise against a HOTAS when flying left-handed. I saw it in a local CompuSmart the other day and made a mental note for the Christmas wish list if I don't get it before then. :D
  11. IGN.com has thrown together a review of the shooter ShellShock: Nam '67. In short: IGN Score: 5.8 Reader Score: 7.7 Opening Line: "Shellshock: Nam '67 is a third-person shooter with some serious problems." Link to original Review at IGN: here. The cut/paste text version of the review is below.
  12. I threw this bit of news up on the main page and referenced this forum post to grab the download links and voice opinions. Thanks, guys.
  13. Alrighty then, I'll throw it up in our news section. Just thought I'd PING the forum first in case this was "old hat." Thanks.
  14. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on the site (but if it is, I apologize :( ) so I thought it was worth posting, especially since they are blaming the delay on the idea of implementing a dynamic campaign. :D Silent Hunter III delayed to 2005 Ubisoft pushes back release to include dynamic campaigns at game community's request. In a post on the game's official Web site, the development team for the upcoming PC submarine simulation Silent Hunter III announced that it has decided to delay the game in order to include a dynamic campaign. The release will be pushed back to Q1 2005. In the post, the development team states that it decided to include the dynamic campaigns more or less at the community's request. Seemingly confused about the definition of dynamic campaigns themselves, the developers allude to the career modes of previous submarine sims Command Aces of the Deep and Silent Hunter I, where players control a single submarine through the course of war. Incorporating graphics on par with the latest shooters, Silent Hunter III was a huge hit at E3. The game was originally scheduled for a September release and is being developed in-house at Ubisoft by its Romania-based team.
  15. Buka Entertainment has today announced that Fair Strike, which has been available in North America since February, will be released in the UK later this year. The game has been signed by GMX Media, which will also publish the PC shooter Hellforces in the UK. "We are happy to make at last clear the situation with Fair Strike, this helicopter action/simulation by G5 Software, which is highly anticipated in the UK," said Maxim Mikhalev, Buka's VP of international. "GMX Media showed good cooperation distributing Battle Mages and The Entente: World War I Battlefields, so we are pleased to keep on our partnership." "We are very pleased to have the opportunity to get Fair Strike to the market; fans have been eagerly awaiting it," added Eugene Perry, COO at GMX Media. Buka Entertainment has become one of our strong partners; they are such an efficient company that working with them is so much fun. We look forward to further partnerships with them." For more information on Fair Strike, GameSpot has a full review of the North American version.
  16. Without knowing how your graphics settings are configured, have you tried dialing the settings down a bit?
  17. ... or an aircraft carrier I presume too? DesertEagle, I am unaware of anyone being able to perform an emergency landing outside the respective areas. During my training days in the MiG, I touched down a little too early (in front of the runway) and well, lets just say that my airforce wages are going to be garnished indefinitely ;)
  18. I hate to admit it but, yes it is possible cause I've done it. Just like Nesher said, you've got to come in real slow. Also make sure you keep the plane centered and just slightly above the horizon line (tarmac doesn't take well to nose dives ;) ) Good luck!
  19. At least we have the means to physically displace ourselves from disaster. This broke my heart when I saw it.... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...2&e=2&ncid=1778 :(

    DOOM

DOOM Movie Coming Together With a new director, and actors being named, the DOOM movie finally takes shape. Sept. 15, 2004 Karl Urban is on quite a roll lately, coming fresh off playing the assassin in the summer blockbuster "The Bourne Supremacy," he is now being cast to star in the Universal studios game-to-movie adaptation of DOOM. Urban will take on the part of John Grimm, leader of a special ops team around which the DOOM movie will revolve. When dealing with alien demons, he is forced to cross paths with the organization responsible for his parents' deaths. Recently, Andrzej Bartkowiak, who was previously in charge of Jet Li's latest action movie "Cradle 2 the Grave," was brought on the project as director. Urban, of New Zealand descent, was also one of the leading roles alongside Vin Diesel in "The Chronicles of Riddick," but probably got his biggest break starring in two of the Lord Of The Rings movies, as "Eomer," the breakaway leader of the Riders Of Rohan. Production for DOOM should kick off at the end of October and the projected release date for the movie is set for August 5 2005, which coincides with the one year anniversary of DOOM 3.

    No new CBA

For as long as I have been around (and paying attention) sports has always been about money. Not how well one performs on or off the field. More often than not, a young player will bust his nuts trying to get noticed, score a huge contract, then get washed back with the tide into a sea of players that show up for work, do what they have to, and then go home to spend their money. If you've read this far, I'm sure one or two players from your favorite sport have already come to mind. Seems like the NHL has had enough of it and decided to set an example for all others sports organizations to follow. Here's the 2 issues that I see them struggling with: Owners want salary cap, players do not Players agree to a 5% salary rollback, owners want 25% Those are huge issues. I don't see it being resolved (by the players) anytime soon, so I predict that the Owners will (once again) have to "take one for the team" to bring the NHL back into existence. Unfortunately, lost revenue and employment from television, radio, arena and nearby restaurants and nightlife, and tourism in general will force the hand.
  23. Welcome back!
  24. Welcome to BioHaz, Faust! :D What are the remaining system specs of your PC? What version of video drivers are you running? When you say "graphics degradation" what exactly are you seeing? Are portions of the carrier deck missing (ie. you can see right through to the water texture?) Hang in there, we'll get it sorted out for you.
  25. Just to follow up on this thread with a post from Igor Tishin, Director of Eagle Dynamics, on the UBI Forums (don't have a date stamp on the original post, but the re-post was Sept. 9th)
