Okay folks, here's the best way if you want different Flankers, with canards with different paint schemes. But it requires a lot of disk space. First, make copies of the Su27canards.LOD, however many copies you want of the different schemes you want. Second, then rename your copies. Example: Su27canards.LOD, then Su27canard1.LOD, Su27canard2.LOD, Su35canard.LOD etc, etc. Whatever you want. Third, get a hex editor. BE CAREFUL HERE...you could damage the LOD file if you aren't paying attention. For each variety of new canard LOD file, you must go into it, look for 'Su27Pylons.bmp' and 'Su27canards.bmp'. Now, rename those entries, being careful to keep the new names to the same amount of spaces the previous names took up. Example: In Su35canards.LOD, 'Su35Pylons.bmp' and 'Su35canards.bmp' would be good...'Su35pylon.bmp' would not be good. Note these renames...you will need the info later. Fourth, make copies of the Su-33(Sim) directory for each new paint scheme/configuration you want...then rename each directory. Example: Su-35, Su-33(NavySkin1), Su-37, etc, etc. The directory names MUST not have any spaces in them, otherwise there could be problems. Fifth, go into your new directories, and rename the Su-33(Sim).ini to the EXACT name you named the directory. Example: Su-35.ini,Su-33(NavySkin1).ini, etc. Sixth, while in that directory, open that .ini file and rename the aircraft...again, whatever you can remember to keep it straight. Seventh, go into the data.ini for that aircraft, find this entry: [Canards] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT Position=0.0,2.2,0.47 PilotModelName=Su27canards SeatModelName= SeatPosition= //MinExtentPosition=0.0,2.2,0.47 //MaxExtentPosition=0.0,2.2,0.47 CanopyNodeName= SeatID=2 Change the bolded part to the specific canard.LOD name you want. Eighth, delete all paint schemes you don't want for this particular variant. Ninth, copy one of the 'xxxxWing' and one of the 'xxxxTail' bmps from your remaining variant to your Aircraft directory. Rename them to the specific texture you need. That should be it. The method is fairly intensive, but it also means you should only have to do it once. You will simply have a specific aircraft for each paint scheme you want. My advice would be to try it once to get a feel for what you need to do. And to help keep the names straight. For example, start with a Su-35 variant first. And with that, my contributions to this mod officially end. This mod has now exceeded my ASS factor...as in the "pain in the ass" variable has exceeded my "gives a rat's ass" variable. No more modifications of this addon will come from me...so don't ask. No new IRSTs, square tip vertical stabs, tailhooks, etc.... If someone else wants to take it on, I might consider releasing the MAX file. PM me if you are interested...but serious inquiries only. I wonder who the pilot was. I've got a bud in the HANG who I went to pilot training with. In fact, last time I checked, he was the SQ/CC of the unit and was scheduled to get checked out in the F-22 in preparation to get them in 2011. FastCargo

Canards are toys
FastCargo replied to Canadair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Damn it, you guys would bring this up...now you've got me experimenting... If you can't build new models...you can modify current ones. Remove parts, then add 'fake' parts... Lets say a remove a vertical tail... And the horizontal tail...then add the V rudders... FastCargo -

Nah, you're fine. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you...I'm a little (actually a LOT) tired today. The wiki entry I read was that the IRST was moved for visibility reasons, though it did mention the refueling probe in the same sentence. Anyway, for those interested, making parts disappear is actually pretty easy with just ini entries (assuming you have the OUT file handy). However, to put new parts in requires new LODs depending on the method used. FastCargo -

No, the canards can't be linked. The loadout has nothing to do with the mod. The canards and extra pylons are not weapons. FastCargo -

Why, yes, yes you are correct. I guess I'll have to fix that...after all, the Su-33 IRST is actually off to one side so the pilot can see over the nose easier... FastCargo -

F15 vs F14 problem!
FastCargo replied to Blasto's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Some of the bros also said the big advantage of the Sparrow in the post 9-11 world is that you can have it 'go stupid' after launch if you had the wrong target (such as a airliner)...vs a Slammer that'll do the 'mad dog' thing... FastCargo -

F15 vs F14 problem!
FastCargo replied to Blasto's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I've heard the same thing from some buds who are former F-14 pilots. The Viper is simply vicious in a close fight. I'd imagine a Mirage 2000-5 would be about the same in close. During Red Flag, the M2k5 pilots were pretty much even in close in fights with the OPFOR Vipers. Which made for some funny ACMI reviews...'Wagon train' dogfights... FastCargo -

THIS MOD DOES NOT HAVE ANY AIRCRAFT IN IT - YOU MUST HAVE THE LISTED AIRCRAFT TO BE ABLE TO USE THIS MOD!!!! Su-33 mod readme for the TW series. Version 1.0 Thanks to the following folks: TK - For the ThirdWire series of sims. Marcelo - For the excellent Su-27. Mustang - For the great video tutorials. To my fellow Combatace moderators - For helping me beta test and work out bugs. Any errors or mistakes are entirely mine. What you will need first: Copy of SFP1/WOE/WOV patched to the latest standard (as of 28 Jan 08) Marcfighters excellent Su-27 located here: http://marcfighters.combatace.com/Aircrafts.htm Drdoyos Navy Flanker Skins (Optional): http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=5241 Notes and limitations. These are only visual changes, no changes were made to the flight model other than the addition of independent control thrust vectoring. The Su-33 loadout.ini wasn't changed (I didn't have time), but the data, cockpit and avionics inis have been changed to allow the carrage of AG weapons, including the Moskit ASM missile. The canards and pylons will pattern their colors after the bmps you put in the Aircraft folder...which means they won't change if you use a different texture and so might look weird. This whole thing was done as a lark, to take a break from my T-38 and weapons work. As such, I am pretty much done with dealing with it...so don't expect a whole lot of support from me for this one. What you will need first: Thirdwire Weapons Editor - http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm Copy of SFP1/WOE/WOV patched to the latest standard (as of 28 Jan 08) Notes and limitations: Your aircraft will need to have EOGB on the weapon station in order to be carried. Also, the JSOW is 4 meters long, so you may need to check your weapon station limitations to make sure you can carry it. The JSOW is a GPS guided glide bomb with about a 75km max range at altitude. It comes in 3 versions - the A model which is a cluster munition, mainly against soft targets, the B model which is anti armor cluster, and the C model which has a 500 lb class explosive warhead.
