  1. Hey guys, First aircraft project of which some of you have seen teasers. Don't get TOO excited...I expect to be at release by Christmas...2008. So don't ask for updates either! On to the screenshots! Debating if I'm going to implement this...moveable canopies. Tested here as airspeed dependent. (Aircraft is not ground stable yet...that's why the wierd angle). I may just leave the animation in place and let end users put in the ini entries. You will be able to see the engine faces but barely for the A model...which is true in real life. The C model will be easier to see. Will probably not make spinning blades. The real aircraft has stator vanes at the front that mask most of the spinning parts. Classic lines...ignore the decal. I'm using the F-5A as a basis for testing...using the layouts to get an idea on how to skin, decal, etc. Has animated nozzles...just have to tweak the ini entries a bit. Has decent detail on the landing gear, and full animation, including shock struts and nose wheel steering. The model is sitting at just under 22000 polygons. My goal is under 25k for the entire external model. If it starts cresting that, I'll start taking out some detail. Still have to put on little bits (antennas, pitot tube, etc) plus figure out how much to put in the cockpit area. I've run into a snag already with the 'bubble' that sits around the cockpit viewpoint, which cuts out some stuff I wanted people to see...plus makes a 'rear cockpit' view harder to implement. That's it for now...I'm taking a break! FastCargo
  2. Hahahaha! I always wondered what would happen if you tweaked the entries like that... I'm surprised no one commented on my 'backward firing' Sidewinder experiment from a few months ago.... FastCargo
  3. A quick note to folks. If the new addon skin has a Textureset.ini file in it's directory, then you do not even have to edit the aircraft ini at all. The game engine will AUTOMATICALLY insert the Textureset.ini details the next time you run the sim. This part still applies though. FastCargo
  4. Good points all... People sometimes forget that real weapons employment isn't 'point and shoot'...especially early models of the 'winder.... FastCargo
  5. Actually those already exist...and are on airliners! Uses a directional laser to 'blind' the incoming MANPAD. Not quite the same as shooting it down...but good enough. Never thought I'd be flying a civilian aircraft with more sophisticated counter measures than the military aircraft I flew... FastCargo
  6. Amen brother! FastCargo

  8. Nope. Look at my sig. Hey folks...lets steer this one back on topic. Cluster munitions employment. I personally like laying down a long stick of 30 CBUs with SFWs in all of them... Destruction for all my friends... FastCargo
  9. Guys, I'm aware of the toliet situation...I've just been a little busy with the holidays, going back to work, the new kid...and this: I'm thinking of taking a break from this though...so expect some weapons in the semi near future. FastCargo
  10. What Jug was talking about was major ground and air offensive campaigns. As in 1973 Yom Kipper War sized operations. As in dealing with a major air and IADS threat. Israel has had a lot of subconventional warfare (even the 2006 Lebanon War was mostly fought against irregular troops using guerilla tactics) but hasn't had a large conflict against regular troops in a long time (a good thing). Battle hardened? Sure, Israel has some of the best troops on the planet. I've met them, talked with them, flown with them. And don't talk to me about history and learning from it. Hey, what the hell do I know...I just flew nuclear bombers for a living... FastCargo
  11. And all of those happened before you were born Viggen. That doesn't count as recent experience. FastCargo
  12. Alex, Welcome. Read the knowledge base. Do a search...someone asked the exact same question 2 weeks ago. Read and learn. FastCargo
  13. Hey guys, Just posted this to let you know why I was more or less offline for 2 days. It's been a nightmare trying to get the new drive to work. Finally realized that the 137GB BIOS limitation couldn't be overcome. I've been juggling 3 internal drives, 1 HD caddy, 2 external drives and 2 laptops to fix everything. The good news...I didn't lose anything! The boot error was simply what I thought it was...WinXP can write to more than 137GB, but the BIOS couldn't. So as soon as I installed all my new games, then shutdown, the BIOS couldn't boot it. And being that I didn't have 170GB free on any other drive I had...I had to split and juggle to copy all the data off the 250GB drive, then reformat the 250 GB with 2x 120+GB partitions, then install WinXP on the boot partition, THEN copy all the data back to the drive. Worked great...with only 8 hours til show for my FedEx trip! Still have to fix some minor broken shortcuts...but all the essentials work. Even things like Office, Steam, Windows, MSFS were unaffected. However, had a sweaty moment when 3ds Max reverted to unregistered mode and initially wouldn't re-register.... I'll probably find more errors...but from what I can tell, I'm back! Saturday, I'm finding a Best Buy and buying a 250GB external HD as a backup...damnit! FastCargo
