Bomarc WIP
winterhunter replied to winterhunter's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I will finish it then!!! -
Hi everyone, I'm changing jobs (and countries) soon, so I decided to get one last release before moving... (All my other WIPs will be released in, mmm, two weeks ) I tried to filter out what I can finish in the time I have left, and a Bomarc SAM, along with a simplified erector-launcher, should be feasible. Is there some interest in this?

If you are planning on doing the follow-up version (the one with 4xAIM-4s, 2xAIM-47s and no FFARs), I could come up with a nice looking AIM-47.... -
Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a my first plane (XF-103), but since I will be starting a new job in some days, I'm afraid I will not be able to finish it... Work on the 3D model is pretty advanced (only the landing gear and weapon bays are missing with their respective animations), and I'm pretty confident that I should be able to finish it and do the .INIs in time. Therefore I ask if there is someone out there can help me with the following: + Texturing + Doing the cockpit (an important part of the XF-103 experience!) + Debugging the .INIs Anyone??? Thanks!

I have the same problem in the Su-15TM. Do I need to convert all .TGAs that concern the radar to .BMPs? I've tried converting the two radartextures they reference (but not horizon bars etc.) to .BMP and I still get: In the .ini you have: [TextureData] RadarTexture=cockpit/radar.bmp RWRTexture=cockpit/spo10rwr.bmp ..... [RadarDisplay] FadeImageIntensity=0.9 TargetFadeTime=1.0 ImageFadeTime=0.40 SweepIntensity=0.7 StrobeIntensity=0.5 ElevationScale=75 ElevationStrobeSize=0.10 TargetStrobeSize=0.13 TargetShadowIntensity=0.5 AcquisitionSymbolHeight=0.10 AcquisitionSymbolSize=0.15 NoiseLevel=0.85 BSweepWidth=0.001 DitheredSweepWidth=0.001 DitheredSweepIntensity=0.05 RangeStrobeWidth=0.25 RangeStrobeHeight=0.01 RangeGateWidth=0.25 RangeGateHeight=0.01 RangeGateIntensity=0.01 MissileRStrobeWidth=0.50 BreakXSize=0.50 BreakXIntensity=0.8 PPIArc=35 GroundReturnFadeTime=5.0 GroundClutter=0.9 MapBackgroundLevel=0.9 MapHighlightLevel=0.9 RangeRateCircleSize=0.86 RangeRateCircleScale=926 RangeRateCircleTexture=RADARVCCIRCLE.TGA HorizonBarSize=1.00 HorizonBarTexture=RADARHORIZON.TGA RadarSize=1.00 RadarTexture=cockpit\MiG21RADAR.bmp HeatSize=1.00 HeatTexture=RADARASE.TGA AimDotSize=1.00 AimDotTexture=RADARAIMDOT.TGA Originally radar.bmp and MiG21RADAR.bmp were .TGAs that I've converted (nothing changed, though!). Any other leads?

Description ------------- The European FREMM frigate and the Aster 30 Missile. The FREMM Multipurpose Frigate (French Frégate multi-mission or Italian Fregata Europea Multi-Missione) is a ship designed by DCN and Fincantieri to operate in anti-air, anti-submarine and anti-ship warfare, and be capable of carrying out deep strikes against land targets. The French Navy plans to operate eleven FREMM frigates, and the Marina Militare ten. The first commissionings are expected in 2012 when the first of the French vessels is due in service (France has placed orders for 11 FREMM frigates, Italy 6 with the last 4 has been funded at the end of 2007). The ships will be built in France by Armaris (owned by DCNS, and in Italy by Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (a joint venture between shipbuilder Fincantieri and aerospace firm Finmeccanica). This arrangement extends the partnerships forged for development of the Horizon CNGFs (Common New Generation Frigates). Morocco has bought one frigate to be operated by the Royal Moroccan Navy. Hi everyone, I was told that the Stormer HVM was not working correctly and found out that it was not firing under certain circumstances. Thanks to some advice from Capun I now think that I've corrected this problem. At least when I've tested it yesterday (WoE and WoI), I had an extremely short life span as a red SEAD... Can you test it and give me some feedback, please? This is my first ground unit and I would like to get it working. Thanks!
-
I've updated the missile and the vehicle -it now detects you earlier and lock faster onto targets- (thanks Capun for the great advice!!!) and got shot down thrice in WoE and twice in WoI. Actually, in WoE I didn't know what hit me... I was trying to bust those darned Marder Rolands that where tracking me when I heard "Sam la... BOOM" Try and test it again, and tell me if it is finally working.

AFAIK, the RCS was measured in a full-scale mockup and was better than the F-117, even though at those levels, better is always very relative since almost any "damage" (up to getting the plane "coated" by pigeons ) during operations will change the RCS dramatically for worse. The best mantained and operated plane would have been the stealthier.

Something similar happens to me... The Alvis Stormer that I've created does not engage if there are other SAMs around... For example, in red SEAD missions with mixed blue SAMs (Rolands and Starstreaks in my setup), the Starstreaks do not engage until there are no more rolands left in the vicinity... When you kill the last roland, in like 20 km radius, you just get shot down by a Starstreak.

The British Starstreak SAM and the Alvis Stormer HVM launcher. Starstreak is a British short range surface-to-air missile manufactured by Thales Air Defence Limited (originally Shorts Missile Systems), in Belfast. It is also known as Starstreak HVM where HVM stands for "High Velocity Missile". After launch the missile accelerates to approximately Mach 3.5, at which point it launches three laser beam riding submunitions. The use of three submunitions increases the likelihood of a successful hit on the target. Starstreak has been in service with the British Army since 1997. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starstreak_missile) Now in version V1.1 with some small corrections: + The optronics turret does not "crash" into the missile turret anymore. + The visual detection range has been somewhat bettered. + The thrust curve of the missile has been tweaked to improve the Pk. + The seeker FOV has been enlarged to ensure more frequent engagements in high angular velocity conditions. -

Hi everyone, I'm working on a frigate and a SAM for WoX (the FREMM armed with the Aster 30) and I'm looking for someone who can help me with the ship skins. Here go some pictures of how the thing's looking: http://digilander.libero.it/en_mezzi_milit...l/en_fremm.html http://www.defense.gouv.fr/marine/decouver..._missions_fremm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FREMM (The first seems a bit more accurate) I've placed the current "skin" in .PSD and .BMP formats in here: http://meza.barthel.free.fr/gonzalo/storage/FREMM_Skin.zip Please note that the unwrapped UVWs do not fit ALWAYS in the template by a couple of pixels. Instead of reducing them (and maybe distorting the skin), I've chosen to either place a background of the same colour or just "retouch" the edges with a brush... Anyone up to the challenge?
