  1. Quote from Acig.org Hi guys, as you might have seen from my screenies I have been working a bit on compiling an Iran-Iraq war install, even contributing some missing assets. Yesterday, as by some divine inspiration, I decided to make a new ground war for the campaign. So I made, paper map in hand, a new 32 strategic node ground war. Yep. I am immensly proud of myself I actually discovered a fairly easy workflow for making them, I can detail it if anyones interested. So, what have I got so far: -Campaign starting on the 22nd of September, 1980, detailing the first part of the war. Includes, so far, accurate IRIAF and IrAf squardrons, as per Acig.orgs article in which I have supreme confidence. -Ground War -Collected avaliable resourcet at Combat Ace: IRIAF F-4D by Sundowner, F-5E pack and skins by MF/Paulopanz/Crusader etc. Iran/Iraq map by Wrench&Co, Swing wing Fitter pack for SF2 by eburger,lindr2 & Amokfloo etc. RF-4E by TMF etc -TW resources: IrAf MiG-21MF skin, F14A IRIAF skin DLC, Iraqi Su-7BM skin -Made a new Tu-22 and Tu-22KD skin. -Also incorporated the closed beta MiG-25PD and Mirage F.1 (neither of which were operational already in the fall of 1980, so no biggie for the early campaign) What is still needed -Proper IRIAF F-4E skin. I jury-rigged the F-4D skin for now but is there a real one floating around anywhere? Sundowner? -Su-20/22M/22M3 templates for making proper Iraqi skins -MiG-23BN, MS, MLA and MF skins. I favor the Thirdwire MiGs over Lindr2s but that might just be a matter of personal preference.. (Flogger23?) -MiG-21Bis and PF iraqi skins (Paulopanz?) -The Iran/Iraq map could use some visual love and TOD file goodness as well as some targets in the mountains between cities (just some villages or random stuff like Hill 123, 231 etc) to slow down the pace of advancement for iraqi units into the iranian mountains. Completely out of scope of my know how. I was thinking something more along the lines of this or this. I am willing to contribute making tiles if some mapping guy (Wrench? Pretty please?) would help me incorporate them. -Attack helicopters, first and foremost Cobras and Mi-24/25s, but also UH-1s, Mi-8s and Gazelles. Wasn't there a Hind released already? Couldn't find it. Mostly for AI. So I was wondering if anyone was interested in making this a co-operative effort? If not, I'll just release the campaign files and the Blinder skins and let each one fend for themselves It is a great setting to fly in SF2, we already have most of the stuff needed.
  2. F-5E Early Versions Pack

    Version 1.0

F-5E For Strike Fighters 2 "Early versions pack" Version History: v.1.0: First public release. Early versions without later refinements like RWR. DESCRIPTION: This addon can thank its release to the work of two talented individuals, FastCargo and BPao. FastCargo created the F-5F two seaters and BPao was the man behind the original Mirage Factory F-5E model. I was fortunate enough to get permission to work on these source models, with the goals of marrying the F-5E front section to the F-5F engine and wings which were quite a lot more detailed. It was supposed to be a quick project. One year later: I have completely reworked the F-5E nose, added a lot of stuff on the original fuselage and detailed both original templates to have higher detail textures. Meanwhile Sophocles graciously allowed me to use his superb F-5A cockpit as a basis to build my F-5E cockpit, in which I have also used parts based on FastCargos unfinished T-38 cockpit. Included is two versions of the earlier production F-5E: a basic version dubbed '72 and an export specific version with a larger vertical stabilizator and spine antenna. This version is dubbed '74L (L for large vertical stablizator). Happy flying! Mats "Centurion" Liljeroos FEATURES: SF2 standard external model 2048^2 textures with normal maps Realistic cockpit with avionics courtesy of Crusader FM from original MirageFactory F-5E which flies really good. OPERATORS COVERED IN THIS PACK: USAF Agressor USN Agressor Brazil Honduras Chile Marocco IRIAF Jordania South Korea Saudi Arabia Thailand South Vietnam North Vietnam (captured from VNAF) Ethiopia Kenya Indonesia Tunisia CREDITS: Bpao and Mirage Factory crew: Orginal F-5E model and templates FastCargo for original F-5F model EricJ and pappychecksix for original F-5F templates and textures Sophocles for his superb cockpit work. Every switch is a work of art. Crusader for his ini file magic, really makes the cockpit and plane come alive. Paulo for his mammoth decaling work which he allowed me to use. and even helped me by reworking some of it. Me for cobbling all this together (=texturing and modeling work) The rest of the Combat Ace community. Without you guys I would never have bothered to make it this far. INSTALATTION: Extract into mod folder of choice. This by and large replaces the old F-5E by TMF, so you can go ahead and delete the F-5E aircraft folder if you have it installed. NOTE: The _74L version references the _72 versions cockpit folder, so if you aim to use the 74L standalone in some installation, copy the cockpit folder and F-5E_72_cockpit.ini file from the _72 folder to the _74L folder. Overwrite. Stay tuned for more Tigers! This falls under the Combatace Freeware License Agreement.
  3. 'Ello guys Thought I'd share a campaign I have working with you as the chances of me finishing it on my own seem to be rather slim. Background: Set in 1985 Features flyable aircraft of the USAF, USN, USMC and ROK. Intial enemy is DPRK, reinforced later by Soviets and China Fairly realistic ORBAT for blue side Two carrier groups, USS Constellation and USS Carl Vinson, with period accurate squadrons and escorts A (not yet fully working) friendly Amphibious landing A new comprehensive 60+ node ground war. Can be used for Korean war ops too I think MODs I used, Aircraft http://combatace.com/files/file/13932-f-4e-usaf-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13932-f-4e-usaf-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12096-f-4d-78-loran/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13223-f-15c-eagle-early-production-1979-for-sf2-march2012-and-later/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12743-updated-f-16a-block-10/ http://combatace.com/files/file/9685-b-52gh-mega-era-package/ http://combatace.com/files/file/11898-f-4d-rokaf-1969/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15259-fa-18-series-update-by-the-hornet-team/ http://combatace.com/files/file/14233-lockheed-f-117a-nighthawk-for-sf2/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15388-ah-1s-cobra-tow-smod/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15116-f-5e-early-versions-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/9274-mirage-factory-f-4g-phantom-for-sf2-series/ http://combatace.com/files/file/15326-ah-1j-wings-over-the-seven-seas-sf2/ Ships http://combatace.com/files/file/12873-iowa-class-battleship-update/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12304-cg-16-leahy-class-cruiser/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12431-riga-class-frigate/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13041-jianghu-class-frigates/ Terrain http://combatace.com/files/file/13415-sf2-korea-terrain-v3/ Ground units http://combatace.com/files/file/14277-republic-of-korea-army-vehicle-pack/ http://combatace.com/files/file/13284-sf2-tanks-pack/ and more probably... So if anyone is interested give it a try and maybe we can make a complete pack out of this. It flies quite good, the campaign, the best I've done certainly. Installation is just to pop it into the campaigns folder. Take the included Korea3_targets and pop it into the Korea 3 folder, this add a USMC deployment point for the naval invasion. I have a lot of period skins in the work, I suck at decaling and would gladly hand them over to a good decals guy. These include Wolfpack F-16A skins, USN A-7E and F/A-18A skins.. 4. Parani Air Force Pack 1

    Version 1.0

-=Parani Air Force Pack 1=- *********************** *****by Centurion 1****** *********************** This pack adds a bunch of nation specifc, flyable aircraft that depicts the fictional Parani Air Force of the 1970s. All the skins are high-resolution and custom made for this. The baddies have never looked so good :) The fighters also have kill markings included. Included are: MiG-21MF*/PFM Mirage 3 called PC Mirage 5** called PD Mirage F.1 (early type, Cyrano IV radar and no RWR. Inboard Atoll pylons included) Su-7BMK Tu-22 Il-28 and a skin for the Tu-22KD. The reason for this not being a nation specific variant is I cant make cruise missiles work for other nations than the Soviets. The MiG-21s are based on the latest MiG-21 pack by Ataribaby and include the "hard" handling model. *The MiG-21MF have provisions for mounting Matra550 Magic 1 IRMS, because of the poor performance of the Atolls. This was done IRL by the Iraqi air force in the 1980s. If you dont like it, feel free to edit it out. **Converesly, the Mirage 5s have the possibility to mount WP IRMs and dumb ordnance, like the Libyan Mirage 5D Installation: Unzip to a mod folder of your choice. Suggested to use with Piecemeals excellent Desert 4 terrain. Requirements: MiG-21s, Il-28, Su-7, Tu-22: Any SF2 title more or less. Mirage 3 and 5: SF2 Israel (based on the Nesher and Shahak) Tu-22KD: SF2: North Atlantic CREDITS: Thirdwire for making Sf2 The CombatAce community for being very friendly, supporting and making SF2 live on! Piecemeal for making the Desert 4 terrain, the main reason for me making this pack Me (Centurion): Su-7BMK templates. Skins. Misc tweaks. Ataribaby, Paladrian, Spillone104,Howling1,Klavs81,Wrench,Lindr2,Zdenek Kussior, 4plus: MiG-21 pack (cockpits, data tweaks, sounds etc) Soulfreak: MiG-21 templates LudoM54: Mirage temps Flogger23: Il-28 and Tu-22 temps Stary: Su-7 and Il-28 cockpits Lindr2 for some weapons Ravenclaw for some weapons LudoM54, Crusader and me and the rest of the F.1 team for the Mirage F.1 And anyone else I might have forgot.
  5. Hey all, I picked this up as a project yesterday. Partially because I wanted to develop a good workflow for working with cockpits, which has been very difficult for me on a previous project, and because the Soviet side is sorrily neglected in SF2. So I am making a MiG-25PD cockpit, and maybe later on mod it to MiG-25P and RB versions. A full new hi-res exterior model might follow if I can ever complete this. I need some good info though on the MiG-25P and PD, and if anyone has good close ups on the gauges that would be very much appreciated! Esp. the banks of warning lights are a complete mystery so far. And I only have one small pic of the radar scope.. Also, how difficult is it to export from Max and get a cockpit working ingame? If some experienced modder wanted to lend a hand, that would be ok :P Any and all C&C is welcome but remember this is a very early WIP... I am shooting for a good amount of detail here so the polycount will probably be quite high.

  7. DISCLAIMER: I am literally from the other side of the planet, so my knowledge of the RAAF, RAN, and Indonesia is mostly from reading Wikipedia. Errors are to be expected.. Hi all! A few weeks back is started to work on a small campaign based on the Modern Darwin terrain, to get to use all the Aussie DLC planes I just bought I settled on the year 1970 as the time to get an interesting mix of aircraft. Here is my backstory, which is a pretty big "what-if" but maybe necessary for the time to explain all the airworthy Indonesian MiGs: Features: RAAF, RAN, RAF and RN vs. Indonesia Two carrier groups Three surface groups Ground war Aircraft: Mirage IIIO F and A RAAF (DLC) A-4G RAN (DLC) F-4E RAAF (mod) F-4K RN (DLC) Buccaneer RN & RAF (mod) Harrier GR.1 RAF (stock) Canberra Mk20 RAAF (mod) Requirements: Above mentioned aircraft All SF2 titles merged (probably) Ships, most notably the aircraft carriers and some british escort ships, Komar patrol craft, Riga cruisers.. will post list. Modern Darwin terrain, with the two tweak packs applied.. Known bugs/problems: The naval groups are not currently showing except carriers. Possibly related to the Naval Campaign statements.. will investigate. They worked previously.. The Indonesian MiGs are using generic skins The RAN and RN carrier groups are just guesswork as I couldn't find any refs on what escorts they should have Installation: 1) Make sure you have the necessary bits and bobs 2) Extract the IndonesianGambit folder to your campaign folder 3) Add the statements NavalMap=TRUE to your Darwin.ini, and place the included Darwin_water.bmp file in your Darwin terrain folder.. Here is the link, this is only a beta so far thats why its not in the download section yet: https://rapidshare.c...nGambitBeta1.7z Please report any bugs and problems here, as well as fixes or tweaks if you have them! Screenies: Assets still needed: Indonesian Skins A bunch of them, I've compiled some resources here: http://postimage.org/gallery/505l0gu/ Ships Most notably the KRI Irian, but maybe some RAN stuff? Well, that was a long post.. enjoy!
  8. Well, simple enough, I was wondering if anyone else had a bunch of mercenary skins made just for the heck of it or some what if flying. I am going to start off, I would love it if it would result in some kind of merc skin pack! There are very few merc skins for DL, which is too bad. Ultimately, I would like to make a campaign of just merc units against each other, if we can amass enough skins! If you got back storys or proposed mods share them! I personally try to keep it somewhat viable, like the real-life Omani Hunters avaliable as DLC, who are just upgraded with more IRM rails. Other things I think are viable include chaff/flare dispensers and uprated engines.. but don't let this hamper your creativity Harrier mercs: Tunnan:

  10. Hello guys, as you might have seen, Stratos, Coupi and me are working on a new Angolan terrain that depicts most of Angola and a good portion of then South-West Africa now Namibia too. The reason for this is that a good terrain for flying the SAAF birds has been long overdue. The terrain is 1000km x 1000km. Coupi had started an even larger terrain that depicted most of SW Africa but in order to try to keep this managable we decided to go a little bit smaller and use a default TW terrain size. This terrain is being created from scratch and we hope to have a reasonably good representation of the area when we are done. Ofcourse, the area is extremely diverse when it comes to natural features, but we will do our best with what we got. A special thanks goes to Gerwins new TFD tool that has enabled rapid and accurate targetization of the terrain. Stratos has added over 200 cities, airfields and target areas already. In the mean time I have been busy trying to recreate the diverse nature in the tileset, it's early days still but things are looking if not perfect then at least satisfactory! The tiles are all built from satmaps from this actual area. There will probably be closer to or over 10 different terrain types when we are done. Marshy wetlands found in particular in NE Namibia. The tiles are build using satelite images from this area. Savannah with some african trees visible. Will be even more diverse when done. Semi-arid bushterrain (sans bushes) and rocky cliffs. But we need your help guys, we are too small a team to make everything needed. Stratos did a good review of what we got for a bush war campaign and what we still are lack : Especially the ground units and Impala Mk1 / 2 would be quite high priority if you ask me. In addition to this, we of course need good Angolan skins for the red birds they flew. The MiG-17 and 21 in particular, while the new MiG-23 is being worked on. So that is what's cooking, so to speak. We are very eager to finish this, but there is a lot to do so any help would be welcome, whether research, ground units or objects, tileset help or whatever else you can do.
  11. This certainly sends a clear messge about how DCS feels about mods in general. A shame really, but their loss in the long run. No way will ED and the select few third party devs keep up with demand. The only positive I can see out of this is that since classified modern jets are highly unlikely to be modelled, we will get more cold war stuff. I have more or less given up on DCS as it is now, when and if DCS 2.0 comes out and I can get my hand on the Oculus RIft CV I will give it a go. Before that, I got better things to do.
  12. The 94-95 timeframe sounds like a good idea, when DPRK had MiG-29s and Su-25s (IIRC). Once the base scenario works well I can just change units, but it depends on finding good ORBATs. The RAAF is already in with said assets. They appear a week or so in, with a token Hornet and F-111 sqn. Also Indeonesia, another regional ally. The RAAF birds are not set as playable though, easy fix if you know how or have the campaign customizer DLC. Has anyone tried the campaign, does it work for you?
  13. New Video Card and Other Stuff

Nice, sounds like good times. Think I'm gonna need to get one of those in the fall, or a 980, because of the Oculus Rift system reqs and my video card is not up to snuff. I am going to do it right, to hell with cost. Anyways, summer is great and if you live somewhere where it's short and sweet like here, do get the most out of it!
  14. A-4 Skyhawks get upgraded

Wonder if the original designers could ever foresee that this plane would serve into 2025.. Back then planes struggled to get 20 years of service due to the quick technical progress :)
  15. And a Hamina class? Excellent indeed! Thanks, yeah it's coming along.
  16. Soon ™ and Two weeks ™ Seriously the CZ/AZ are making really good progress, so It won't be too long.
  17. The last Mirage F.1AZ are not delivered, and instead join the French air force to counter the growing soviet threat.
  18. That's one of the nicest cockpits I've seen so far for SF2, and a much needed one. I counter with a french striker cockpit!
  19. Holy Mirage Saver, Batman! Seriously, I love you for doing those since otherwise, I would have had to do part of those as part of the F.1 work.
  20. If I understand it correctly, I believe Saavedra proposes creating a helicopter mission with the target area to be the area the pilot went down. Maybe use recon mission type so you get mission success when flying over the downed pilot. If you hit the save mission button you can edit it with the mission editor IIRC? So just offset the mission start time, etc, maybe move in some ground unit to capture our unfortunate pilot in order to make it "interesting". Hehe it would be cool if we had a "downed pilot" ground object, armed with just a carbine or pistol Infiltrating the DDR in a Huey might be a dicey proposition though :)
  21. I would second that.. for now. When and if SF2 "officially" becomes abandonware I think we could rethink that policy, especially regarding stock aircraft. Some of the AI-onlies could use a fair bit of mesh smoothing, as well as cockpit tweaks etc. Could make a really great "Community Update Pack".
  22. This one is still happening.
  23. F-5a

Haha you got that right. And your mesh really does give the airframe justice. I think I will have to redraw the F-5E templates in 4096x4096 now
