How much paint would it take to paint a beast like that? I like it! "Conscript you there! Got an assignment for you.. just a bit of painting that needs to be done" -
Loving the Rhino, looking forward to the next plane pack! This thread inspired me to invest some time in a Dhimari light attacker, and made for the most fun testing mission I've had yet. Mission is armed recon right next to a Parani airbase deep inside enemy territory. Hugging the ground we get in, a flight of four very small birds with some very big bombs Clearing the last hill we run into a pretty nasty surprise, as a flight of four MiG-23MLs ambush us. Luckily we are so low that the multiple Apex missiles launched at us miss and slam into the hillside Not all of us go sidewinders but number three scores a kill. In the intense turning fight the MiG-23 is much too fast to keep up with the small dragonflies. I spot the truck convoy two miles from our position and order my wingman to go after the truck convoy. Having unsuccessfully expended both my 'Winders I go for the SAMs around town when I hear the unsettling sound of shells impacting the ground below me. A flight of MiG-21s have joined the fray! My wingman splashes some of the trucks but three gets struck and is shot down. Now the odds are dire! I order the whole flight to engage air and keep turning. Number two goes down from either a SAM or AAM while engaging the convoy. Luckily, a friendly fighter flight is closing in and one by one the MiGs turn to engage this new threat. I decide to help out by engaging a SA-3 site that is firing on the incoming friendly flight. Try to hit me now! The marines mop up the rest of the opposition and my flight return home to friendlier skies.

				MiG-23 Tactics

Nice screenshots there! Do write a full AAR please! Also found this picture of a LSK MiG-23BN that was too gorgeous to not share -
So last night I woke up by a noise at 3 o clock in the morning and could not fall asleep again, so I decided to break out my laptop and start working on a high-res template for the thirdwire F-14A (2048*2048 instead of 1024). I have the first texture done more or less exluding markers so any help on that would be welcome, but before I went ahead wanted to check with you guys if someone was already working on it? Sundowner? Preview attached

When I got my new laptop it had that feature too, it drove me mad until i figured out that I could turn it off in the BIOS settings. -

				MiG-23 Tactics
Centurion-1 replied to FightingFulcrum's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hi and welcome to CombatAce! Flying the Flogger is exceedingly hard, I have tried some campaigns doing that too but I did it the other way and always bought a ton of wingmen (like 15 wingmen per mission) to exploit the MiG-23s "producability". Against F-15 and F-4 armed with Sparrows flying away can be a good tactic, and have them expend their Aim-7s. Then order flight two or three to break and engage air. The AI can be very single minded and will not see the other flight coming. As stated before, staying very low to close the gap can be a good tactic too.
